It has been quite some time since the last update!Our collaboration with Aaron Wesner from Waverly Fims yielded some great results in the form of a video
for 'a literal title.The European Tour is shaping up very nicely thanks to the hard work of Nikita and Felix.On this side
of the Atlantic we have some exciting news in the shape of a new van (well, new to us) and some March
dates with Plain Lace including a weekend with Ris Paul Ric.Finally we hope to debut some new songs
on the european tour so brace yourselves for some new jams.Back in the 'New World' we're hoping to play some shows in March.Thanks to everyone who has written
so far about this.Finally, "notes" has been getting some great press.First of all, sorry for the lack of updates.As might be expected,
given their talent, the preliminary results are looking amazing.More info to come as the editing process is completed.In a little over a month "notes" will be released.Finally finished the mastering process and the artwork.Also Deborah is putting the final touches on the artwork for "notes" and it looks great.Give her
a high five if you see her.Be sure to pick up a copy from them when they're on tour this summer or from Lovitt.Thanks to everyone in Canada and Boston for coming out, putting
us up, etc.Mike, Ed and Sean from Navies all make appearances and were incredibly helpful during the recording
process.After spending well over 3 months on the road this past year

(E!If anything is to be faulted in this largely successful record, the recording quality seems to diminish the strength of the talents at work here.What is it with Level Plane?Their recent discovery, A Day in Black and White, is a perfect example of why this label is destroying all the other hardcore labels and shattering the notion of what that term can even mean.Isis have treaded on before.This song comes crashing through the gates with an opening riff and shouted vocals that is fast as fuck.Isis mixed with Explosions in the Sky.It builds and breaks before going out in a wash of white noise.It is unfortunate that this is only an EP, and it makes me want more.You've got to give A Day in Black and White a hand, though, as this is an impressive feat nonetheless.First up on this split is A Day in Black and White, opening calmly with an instrumental, "In a Grove", including lots of somber clean guitars and a few delay effects that gradually build in with percussion, bass, and lightly distorted chords.They're also a lot more frantic and intense, with caustic chords and screaming vocals and a little bit of a spoken delivery mixed in."Part One", opening with more clean guitars and noisy effects that explode into a mix of acerbic melody a few minutes in.And I think the recording is fine, the bass could be a little more prominent, but other than that it all fits.The lyrics are personal and open enough to leave room for interpretation, nothing special per se.They don't have a guitar player, so the tracks are dominated by cackling vocal screams, lightly fuzzed bass, keyboards, and other noise textures.The keyboards sound like hipster junk, the screaming is irritating, and the recording is flat and lifeless.This is just not my thing at all, and I'm especially let down because I was into A Day in Black and White, but this shit is just terrible and totally kills the split.Lyrically Black Castle also covers a mixed bag attacking religion, personal issues, and adding in some sarcastic "humor" that I'm not really into with one track that makes fun of record collecting or whatever.All in all I think I'd like to hear more from A Day in Black and White, but to be honest I find Black Castle to be one of those bands that shouldn't exist.Notable tracks: A Day in Black and White is good, fuck the rest...This review has been displayed 2094 times.What Do You Want Me To Do, Sign Your Freakin Yearbook?And just like that, it is over.On a seven song EP, only three of them are from A Day in Black and White before it segues into the dredges of Black Castle.It seems as if this band is composed of a pack of tormented hyenas as Black Castle exhibits a completely sloppy precision with no sustainability in the bridges or the hooks of their music.How the fuck did this band get on the same split with such a powerhouse like A Day and Black in White?Langerado: Contest ends February 18!Eels: Contest ends February 15!Your IP Address is: 216.
