and guitarist George Mihalovich.The band was complete, and after months of intense rehearsal, Aftershok began to perform in late 2000.Throughout 2001 and early 2002, the band began recording as they continued to hone their material through live performances.CD, Burning Chrome (Auburn Records).T, Kip Winger, Firehouse, Warrant, Lizzy Borden, Seven Witches, Britny Fox and Doro Pesch.Iron Maiden on the Pittsburgh, PA dates of their respective 2003 summer tours.In 2007, Aftershok will be performing selected dates throughout the eastern U.Shok Paris fizzled out, he was able to hook up with fellow classic metal lover George Mihalovich and put together the equally as kickass Aftershok.Paris debut album, GO FOR THE THROAT.Heavily influenced by the more traditional great hard metal bands like Judas Priest or Accept, Aftershok have been rockin' the midwest for a number of years now.Their last release, UNFINISHED BUSINESS, was heralded by a lot of publications for it's seering guitars and for the continued attitude of vocalist Vic Hix.BURNING CHROME features everything you might expect to hear from an old school band that refuses to change it's style or sound to sell additional copies of their CD.At the same time, anyone that likes powerful, driving melodic metal doesn't want that in the first place.Longtime metal vocalist Vic Hix is as potent as ever on BURNING CHROME.He's got a higher ranged voice with enough rasp in it to make his presentation convincing on each and every song.Most impressive on BURNING CHROME is the guitarwork of George Mihalovich.Mihalovich is a very traditional player who's intense rhythms outweigh the need or the thought of unleashing blazing solos.It's not that Mihalovich can't unleash when he wants to.It's just that he's a more concentrated rhythm player who's style leads for the entire song to rock instead of a building to a guitar peak, as most guitar driven bands do.Aftershok is a band steeped in the sound of a better musical time.Aftershok aren't reinventing the wheel, but don't really need to either.You may remember lead singer Vic Hix from his brush with fame in the 1980s as lead singer of Midwest rockers Shok Paris.With Burning Chrome you get nothing fancy, riffs aplenty, a few acoustic intros, all courtesy of guitarist George Mihalovich, class of which is 'When Comes The Rain'.Aftershok features the unmistakable voice of former Shok Paris vocalist Vic Hix, awesome guitarist George Mihalovich, bassist Nick G.STARS (Andy Laudano)author: Metal MikeAftershok, and Ohio based classic heavy metal band, is back for round two.On the heels of their excellent debut, Unfinished Business, the band is back with the sophomore album, Burning Chrome.From the opening track, Sons if Thunder, it is evident that Aftershok sounds extremely tight and is ready to deliver a hell of a punch.There's nothing like hearing a wall of sound hit you as the leadoff track.Vic Hix (Shok Paris' vocalist) hasn't missed a beat over the years.For those of you not familiar with Vic Hix, his voice has a distinct Dio like quality, with a slight operatic flare.As I progress through this disc, I hear notable improvements over the debut (which was already a good album).This adds depth and a degree of variety to the sound.Aftershok have taken a good thing and turned it into something that is an outstanding treat for the ears.An album full of nothing but full throttle tracks could easily become predictable.Aftershok have mixed a few well played mid tempo tracks in with their mainstay of powerful, metal anthems.Given the ability the band has to deliver catchy, yet pounding riffs and flamboyant solos, the up tempo songs seem to be the band's strong suit, and they have capitalized on this without becoming stale.Mid tempo cuts such as Dream Maker, When Comes the Rain, and the Sabbath like The Gathering still manage have a bite and attitude, thanks to some slower, yet deliberate and heavy riffs.Vic Hix never relents behind the mic.If you like what bands such as Judas Priest, Saxon, and Dio have done in the past, I think you will find an awful lot to like here.You can hear in the band's sound that the guys truly love the music they are playing, and put in every ounce of effort to deliver a quality product.Aftershok aren't trying to delivery anything new to the scene, just something good.It's too bad
