For information specific to the helicopter from the program, see Airwolf (helicopter).Title card from original run.Airwolf is an American television series that ran from 1984 through 1987.The program concerned a supersonic military helicopter, code named Airwolf, and her crew as they undertook various missions, many involving espionage, with a Cold War theme. The show was devised by Donald Bellisario, who had also created Magnum, P.Quantum Leap, JAG, and NCIS.The final season, for the USA Network, was recast. The Airwolf helicopter 4 Regular cast 5 Merchandise 5.Michael Vincent), a loner after ratings remained low, the series was canceled by CBS.Atlantis and The Arthur Company owned by Arthur L.Annecharico, allowing the show to have enough episodes for syndication runs.Airwolf title these impossible capabilities are explained in the show by such features as auxiliary turbojet engines like those of a jet fighter (visible at the roots of the landing gear sponsons), rotor blades that can be disengaged for supersonic flight and a lifting body fuselage (a seemingly plausible claim given the shape of the Bell 222).Sound effects were also associated with many of the aircraft's abilities. When fired, these rockets usually glowed like a laser bolt or "photon torpedo" from Star Trek.Airwolf was also equipped with an advanced computer system which could identify and track aircraft and ground vehicles. It could display 3D wireframe models and schematics of its targets. The stealth systems were capable of rendering Airwolf invisible to radar, as well as producing multiple radar returns ("Moffett's Ghost").The weapons system could be tied in with the communications system to lock the missiles onto any monitored electronic system. In one episode ("Airwolf II"), Airwolf had an evil twin, the Airwolf II, also known as Redwolf.By the end of the episode, Redwolf was destroyed by Airwolf.Season 4 also featured a similar copter to the Redwolf, known as the Scorpion. This copter was also destroyed by Airwolf (though the footage of the dogfighting was recycled from the "Airwolf II" episode). Please help improve this article by adding reliable references.Firing up to 40 (J.Vincent and Ernest Borgnine) fetched the ultra high tech AIRWOLF helicopter from its lair in the California desert to do the bidding of Archangel (Alex Cord) of the CIA to do one thing or another, though not usually until the last third of the episode which gave time to build a story amongst the players. The stories mostly centered around SoCal, but occasionally AIRWOLF took a trip overseas
