TEENage: Where does your inspiration come from?Alaine: Inspiration for me comes from a lot of different things, from what people say, what I see in a movie, anything anywhere really.TEENage: What was it like to win a TEENage Choice Award?Alaine: I was on tour in South America so I wasn't here, I'm just so happy to win a Choice Award, because it was voting that made me win!That really meant a lot.They knew all the words: that really was great.TEENage: Where's your favourite place to perform apart from Jamaica?It's insane there, really, they love dancehall music!And I have to say also French Guyana; it's between those two places (smiles).TEENage: What's on your IPOD?Alaine: Brick and Lace, Alicia Keys.TEENage: Do you have any shows coming up?Alaine: YES, very busy, I'm booked all the way till New Year's.I'm going to St Kitts and I'm mostly in the Caribbean right now.Alaine: (laughs) Chippies Banana Chips.TEENage: We know you write a lot of love songs.Why, do you have a love?Alaine: Soon, I do them but people gravitate more towards my love songs, but I mean, look out I have some songs I've been working on.TEENage: When is the album coming out?Alaine: Well, Pressure, Munga and I are on Don Corleon Records.New York on December 5 to release my album independently, so we are going to see how that goes!Alaine talks about Rise in Love video and song
TEENage spoke to the songstress Alaine about her mega hit on the Guardian Angel riddim produced by Arif Cooper, Rise in Love.Alaine: It shows going from a bad situation to a good one.TEENage: How long was the shoot?TEENage: Who styled the shoot?Alaine: Dexter Pottinger and my mommy (smiles), she did the floral dress, made about four years ago.TEENage: Any collaborations coming up?Alaine: Pressure and I did something recently, he is a great artiste and I did a song with Munga called Storm Search on the Storm Search riddim.TEENage: How old are you?TEENage: Have you considered any acting?Alaine: I was actually in a movie when I was a kid called Clara's Heart with Whoopi Goldberg.TEENage: What do you think about the Guardian Angel riddim?Alaine: I love every song on the riddim, it's a rare riddim that just inspires and it shows with the songs all the artistes did on it.It's hard not to like that riddim.Alaine: It came naturally to me, when I heard the riddim it just flowed, I cried when I wrote Rise in Love, it was a good kinda cry.Jersey Supreme Court, 1981
