more...Byron Miller has thus far only had a couple opportunities to lead his own record dates.Although he had started playing piano when he was five, Miller did not take music seriously until he had a football injury while a junior in high school.Shortly after high school Miller joined Roy Ayers' Ubiquity for ...Byron Miller,Bigonemusic (061432289524)CD coming back in stock soon.We will not give or sell your info to anyone, and will not use it for any other reason than to tell you when it arrives.Marcus MillerWayman TisdaleClarklinksByron MillernotesA naturally gifted musician, Byron Miller developed an interest in keyboards at the tender age of 5, but seriously took on playing bass as a high schooler in Detroit. His diligence paid off when at 18 years old he was asked to join Roy Ayers Ubiquity, which culminated in three albums and several years of touring. One night in Seattle, Ndugu Chanceler, drummer for the Santana Band, invited Carlos Santana to view Miller while he was playing with Ayers. The three of them formed the George Duke Band and Miller has since appeared on 14 of Duke's albums over the past 20 years. We play differently with each other than with anyone else.He subsequently joined Luther Vandross' band and was a mainstay of his touring unit for 15 years. Then we went into my studio, recorded it and loved it!NAC charts all through summer 1996.If the mark of a great bass player is the ability to play with heart, have originality, genuine knowledge of what constitutes good musicality, great tones and great timing, then Byron Miller by definition is a truly great bass player, 'cause that's what he does, consistently. He reaches for places on the neck that are harder to play, but that produce a sound that has harmonic and rhythmic tension.Mindful that the bass is a rhythm section instrument, he's always striving for his play to be syncopated and chromatic so that the groove is uncompromised.Having learned his craft by listening to Ron Carter, Charles Mingus, Alfonso Johnson, top Motown session bassist James Jamerson, as well as Chuck Rainey and Stanley Clarke, Byron learned the fundamentals well, while developing his own brand of bass playing. His stylistic play earned the respect of Jaco Pastorius, Ray Brown and Marcus Miller, all premiere bassists in their own rights.Gerald Albright , Roy Ayers , George Duke , Everette Harp, Ellis Hall, Josie James, Doc Powell, Patrice Rushen and Kirk Whalum.Whether leading, producing or mixing in the studio, Miller lets other musicians play and use their sensibilities to make the music happen, rather than feel that he needs to control every note.Miller covers his harmonic responsibilities fully, while his lines are absolutely melodic and inventive. The melody comes from the Spirit.Miller was also able to fully display his skills as a keyboardist.Pasadena, California supper club, of which he is part owner. To me the prerequisite is getting talented players and then, within a loose format, letting them do what they do best. This is the cornerstone of creativity!Byron Miller is grateful for the illustrious career he's had thus far, yet he's currently on a mission to take it to a higher level than ever before.Be on the lookout for him...Please log in to review this album.RAYMONE GARNESThe CD is awesome, Great sound. Can't wait to do a couple of the tunes with my band. The best sound of the George Music";s.Could you tell us something about yourself and your projects?Byron Miller: My wife tends to believe I have too many projects.Personally I am somewhat of an introverted person, I tend to over analyze and think about things more than I should. However, to tell some of my story I have always been intrigued with gadgets, technology and science. All of which I wish I had more time to do!The Internet is a mass of unsorted information and resources.Current search systems provide a proprietary interface into this world that people either have to believe or accept.By building an open search system that exposes our processes, our source code and our search results as usable and understandable components we can build a search that no other commercial search engine can afford to do.Instead of being the one and only we will be the tool for all and many. What made you understand this need and how did you get the idea?Byron Miller: When I was about 8 years old I got interested in what was then called shareware. That software and the freedom that came with it gave me the abilities to do things that would have been impossible just days before.Today the goal of the search market is to protect distribution, protect ones control and create value from being different and proprietary. The internet grows and flourishes because of its free flow of information, resources and its inspiration and ability to empower people.Open Search is a way to democratize the worlds information and creates a symposium where everyone can participate in the process by which is it searched, sorted, processed and portrayed.Byron Miller: He who controls information asserts power, he who exposes information creates power.Byron Miller: That all depends on you, the community as to the success of this project; Mozdex will need more than I as an individual can give it and I certainly hope to see more community involvement to make it a reality. We are open to how we can do that and seek your input on how to make that possible.Right now community feedback and participation is priority number one; with that we can raise the money.Byron Miller: It has been difficult to gauge to say the least. It's hard to break in to get your name out when people put up artificial barriers in doing so, by that I mean I can't really discuss what we are about without that being considered spamming or self publicizing which a lot of community sites prohibit these days.Community involvement is imperative and we look forward to the feedback. As we grow our index and broaden our reach perhaps a lot of this will fall in place when people are comfortable recommending us and discussing us and perhaps that is the key to growing strong. Why does mozdex link to the proprietary simpy? You could link to the free de.When we can work with existing community members to enrich ourselves and provide a better service that is the value I see in being open.My idea is a search platform, search integration and a search industry.Again, we are working hard to create interfaces so you can customize within mozdex but the real power is you can implement our data outside of mozdex as well. What kind of things do you imagine will others build on top of mozdex? What does mozdex provide to make these possible? How would you use an OpenSearch or RSS search result? What would you develop from this data? What other features would you benefit from and find useful?OSS and other free culture if you get into congress?Byron Miller: I would speak of the value of empowering people, creating ideas, fostering growth and the agility that comes with being open. What is your position in free vs open source software?Byron Miller: They both create value in freedom.Just like the free market certain pieces will prevail but that is what the market is designed to do.Byron Miller: I believe there is a HUGE market for a search that can expose the how and why.My vision is to create market share instead of control it.This
