C.L. Smooth biography, C.L. Smooth discography

Also known as Caramel King The Mecca Don C.The pair managed to reconcile their differences only long enough to record five isolated tracks in the ten years since their split: "Da Two," "Back On Da Block," "Fly 'Til I Die," "Appreciate," and "It's A Love Thing."During his period of hiatus, C.Smooth declined even to appear as a guest on other artists' albums, with the exception of "Only the Strong Survive" with DJ Krush in 1996.Writer (the remix of "Mesmerize").He is currently signed to the Shaman Work Recordings label, with whom he and producer Mike Lowe have released the singles "American Me", "Warm Outside," "Smoke In The Air" and "I Can't Help It.""Smoke In The Air" by production group Bin Bin High.To promote the album, Shaman Work released a promotional mixtape compiled by DJ J Period called Man On Fire in late April 2006, featuring 36 minutes of freestyles and a remixed version of the track "Impossible".He was also been featured on the DJ Jazzy Jeff album The Return Of The Magnificent on the track "All I Know", which was also featured in the video game NBA Live 08.Singles: "They Reminisce Over You (T.Biz The F List The Fab Empire The Fury The Hip Hop Music Blog The up...Not to get off the beaten path but I just wanted to ask how is Miami treating you?So what sparked you to get back into the studio again dawg?CL: Just sitting down with the anticipation of putting back my group...But its no disrespect but I was just disappointed in the build up in the anticipation of the group and then when that folded through and takin my focus and knowing what to do with it I put it all into CL right now and I'm reaping the benefits of it right now...S1: No doubt thats definitely real...Is there any type of message that you trying to get across is there anything that you got within the music itself?CL: Definitely its about the upliftment of people who have been told that they can't do something and everytime they say you can't do something either you play at it or you fold to it...CL: Its a better game because you 10,000 more outlets then ten years ago, ya dig...Thats where the dilema is, its not per say rap is falling apart...You got white people that dialog and everything they swagger, its a life style its not something you just become its a lifestyle...S1: Ay yo before we bounce anything you wanna say?Blackheart the movement we are here baby!!!Web Site and two well received albums before CL hung up the mic while at his peak.So if you were expecting or hoping for a reunion you might as well give that up.Peep the interview as CL breaks down the relationship with he and Pete and discusses his past, present and future. What got you into hip hop and made you say rhyming is gonna be your profession?Halftime: How did it translate from jazz to hip hop? What kinda things did you see that were similar that attracted you?CL: Ahh man just the way the artists formulated with the different instruments, hearing lead vocalists and instrumentalists and just having the curiosity as a young kid.Halftime: How did coming up in Mt.CL: Well it is a small town so everyone knows everybody if you grew up in the town or you have family there.Halftime: You mentioned Heavy D.How did him being from that area and already putting it on the map help you coming into the game and what kinda relationship did you have with him coming up?CL: Well, I had a relationship with him from fighting in the street and him coming to me about one of his homies saying we gotta squash this. When I picked up on that and realized how small I looked even though I may have been in the right or justified for defending myself. That was the first point where I was like lead by example.Roy was always the catalyst for all of it.It was a small town so you had tension in town and out of town and the thing about Mt.Halftime: Yea, I always heard stories about cats from Mt.Vernon dude tear a Harlem dude and a Brooklyn dude up at the same time.Halftime: How did you and Pete meet up back then?He lived on the same block as Heavy D.It was just a matter of after school him having a desire to make music and me having a desire to be an artist that really brought us together.Tuesday, November 21st, 2006 and is filed under HIP HOP ICON SERIES.We desperately need your types to diversify this rap game. The rap game now is all publicity and it is all going to hell.Tim Westwood and Marley Marl did a show together.Has anyone heard this track cos to me its obscure?.CL what happened to that track??Second, to all the people dissin C.They are both gifted in music and both have feelings, so lets just enjoy the music and stop claiming who is right when none of us know them personally! But you cant discredit his style or flow because on the mic he can hold his own wit anybody.Lets enjoy his return and just hope that him and Pete will record again. Why azz holes like Nelly and Puffy sell bullshit albums by the millions (all garbage with no substance and no value) and quality work is not promoted or supported is beyond me.Change is good, it allows us to grow and step outside our comfort zone, and both brothers should have explored solo projects.Ego and money have ruined many a friendship and this appears to be what happened here.In any event, I pray that they will both see the error of their ways and mend the rift now.Real hip hop is suffering.Cl smooth is an
