Dysrhythmia biography, Dysrhythmia discography

Sometimes referred to as cardiac arrhythmia, cardiac dysrhythmia is the accurate medical term for an irregular or abnormal heart rate.Cardiac dysrhythmia occurs when the average adult heart rate falls below or rises above the normal range of 60 to 100 beats per minute.Cardiac dysrhythmia can be life threatening.Bradycardia is generally not a life threatening form of cardiac dysrhythmia, but it can cause aggravating symptoms. The opposite spectrum of cardiac dysrhythmia is when the heart rate rises above 100 beats per minute.Exercise, stress, adrenaline, and stimulant sources such as caffeine can cause tachycardia.Fibrillation is a form of cardiac dysrhythmia that can be fatal.Though atrial fibrillation is not necessarily immediately life threatening, the condition should be evaluated by a physician.Ventricular fibrillation affects the lower chambers of the heart. This form of cardiac dysrhythmia poses an immediate risk of death, as the heart stops pumping blood effectively.Though some forms of cardiac dysrhythmia are not emergency situations, any form of cardiac dysrhythmia requires medical attention.Even dysrhythmias that are not emergency situations can be indicators of a more serious underlying cause and should be evaluated by a physician.Symptoms can often be felt through a change in heart rate or pulse, and dysrhythmia can sometimes be discovered during routine physical examines, but the only way to determine a specific diagnosis and assessment of heart rhythm is with an electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG).My father had the same thing happen to him, 3 weeks after angioplasty. Please help improve this article by adding reliable references. For the American band, see Dysrhythmia (band). The sinus node contains specialized cells that have spontaneous electrical activity that starts each normal heart beat. This number varies with age, as the heartbeat of a younger person is naturally faster than that of an older person's.Individuals may sense a tachycardia as a pounding sensation of the heart, known as palpitations. If the tachycardia is too fast, the pump function of the heart is impeded, and rarely may lead to sudden death. Most tachycardias are not dangerous.Individuals who have a tachycardia are often advised to limit or remove exposure to any causative agent. When it causes symptoms implantation of a permanent pacemaker may be needed.Either dysrhythmia requires medical attention to evaluate the risks associated with the arrhythmia.Fibrillation A serious variety of arrhythmia is known as fibrillation.Atrial fibrillation is the quivering, chaotic motion in the upper chambers of the heart, known as the atria. It is not typically a medical emergency.Abnormal impulses can begin by one of two mechanisms: automaticity or reentry.SA node, AV node, Bundle of HIS and Purkinje fibers.Any part of the heart that initiates an impulse without waiting for the sinoatrial node is called an ectopic focus, and is by definition a pathological phenomenon.Rhythms produced by an ectopic focus in the atria, or by the atrioventricular node, are the least dangerous dysrhythmias; but they can still produce a decrease in the heart's pumping efficiency, because the signal reaches the various parts of the heart muscle with slightly different timing than usual and causes a poorly coordinated contraction.Conditions that increase automaticity include sympathetic nervous system stimulation and hypoxia. The resulting heart rhythm depends on where the first signal begins: if it is the sinoatrial node, the rhythm remains normal but rapid; if it is an ectopic focus, many types of dysrhythmia can result.Normally the impulse spreads through the heart quickly enough that each cell will only respond once, but if conduction is abnormally slow in some areas, part of the impulse will arrive late and will be treated as a new impulse, which can then spread backward.By analogy, imagine a room full of people all given these instructions: "If you see anyone starting to stand up, then stand up for three seconds and sit back down."Diagnosis Cardiac dysrhythmias are often first detected by simple but nonspecific means: auscultation of the heartbeat with a stethoscope, or feeling for peripheral pulses. These cannot usually diagnose specific dysrhythmias, but can give a general indication of the heart rate and whether it is regular or irregular. Not all the electrical impulses of the heart produce audible or palpable beats; in many cardiac arrhythmias, the premature or abnormal beats do not produce an effective pumping action and are experienced as "skipped" beats. The simplest specific diagnostic test for assessment of heart rhythm is the electrocardiogram (abbreviated ECG or EKG).SADS can also occur from other causes. Also, there are many inherited conditions and heart diseases that can affect young people that can cause sudden death. These three beats are usually one beat from the SA node, followed by two extrasystolic beats. It is a possible cardiovascular side effect of SSRI treatment.See the article on antiarrhythmic agents.Dysrhythmias may also be treated electrically.Cardioversion is the application of electrical current across the chest wall to the heart and it is used for treatment of supraventricular or pulsed ventricular tachycardia.Defibrillation differs in that it is used for ventricular fibrillation and pulseless ventricular tachycardia, and more electricity is delivered with defibrillation than with cardioversion.Electrical treatment of dysrhythmia includes cardiac pacing. This is performed by a cardiologist who specializes in electrophysiology and is done percutaneously with catheters.Alternatively, a maze procedure can be performed through cardiothoracic surgery.Fatty acids Fatty acids play an important role in the life and death of cardiac cells because they are essential fuels for mechanical and electrical activities of the heart. All text is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License."See a map of synonyms of dysrhythmia in the Visual Thesaurus."An abnormality in an otherwise normal rhythmic pattern, as of brain waves being recorded by an electroencephalograph.Possible central vestibular findings in a patient with a peripheral ...Temperature, air pollution, and hospitalization for cardiovascular ...All content on this website, including dictionary, thesaurus, literature, geography, and other reference data is for informational purposes only.CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE NEW SITE!
