When Conley was only 14, his father lost his job, forcing the young boy to move in with his older sister.He was offered a scholarship to an art school, but rejected it in favor of joining the U.There, he met record producer Nelson Larkin, who helped him sign with independent record label GRT in 1974.At the same time he was selling songs that he had written to other artists, including Conway Twitty and Mel Street, who were having much success with them.Conley returned to Nashville, now writing for Nelson Larkin's publishing house.Two years later, he had his first Top 40 hit, "Dreamin's All I Do".He continued to have success over the next few years, and in 1983 he was nominated for multiple Grammy Awards for his song "Holdin' Her and Lovin' You".By the end of the 1980s, Conley began collaborating with Randy Scruggs (son of legendary country singer Earl Scruggs), in the hopes that he could bring his music back to his country roots.He continued to tour throughout the 1990s, but was without a recording contract for most of that time.He began recording again in 1998."We Believe in Happy Endings" (feat.The following Earl Thomas Conley hits need to be added on: "Silent Treatment", "Tell Me Why", "After the Love Slips Away", and "Heavenly Bodies".In The Encyclopedia of Country Music.New York: Oxford University Press.This page was last modified on 24 May 2008, at 20:44.All text is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License.This video will appear on your blog shortly.Thank you for sharing this video!This video has been added to your favorites.Please login to add to favorites.Please login to add to flag a video.Change the value of a comment by clicking on a thumb.So many years have past but I still get teary eyed when I hear this song.The voice that brings me back 20 some years.Earl has a very passionate voice and can hold the listener without the excess instrument noise you will often hear in today's music.To start the song with his voice loud and clear and go through the song at a slow even pace is something not many singers can pull off.Would you like to comment?
