Earthling Society biography, Earthling Society discography

Beauty and the Beast album of the week at Starship Overflow www.Beauty and the Beast on 4zero records April 21st 2008 www.Listen to Earthling Society at the Roadburn festival Tears of Andromeda 'Black Sails against the Sky' NOW RELEASED ON NASONI RECORDS see www.FAR EAST FAMILY BAND 'NIPPONJIN' 1975 "Join our mental phase sound" This slice of Moody Blues inspired Kosmiche goo has been a direct influence (along with the Moodies 'To our children's children's children' LP) on the forthcoming Earthling Society album 'Beauty and the Beast' (2008).This album in my mind is the ultimate acid (although not psychedelic) experience. The emotional rollercoaster that is delivered on tracks like 'Sometimes I don't know what to feel' and the heart wrenching 'I don't want to tie you down' make the hair on the back of you neck stand up and tingle in lysergic pleasure.Combined with the poignant sad humour of 'You don't have to camp around' and the glorious melody of tracks such as 'Zen Archer', 'International feel' and 'when the shit hits the fan' and you have a mix for probably the most adventurous and dare I say it GREATEST album ever made.Listen to Todd As he cries out alone amongst a hundred banks of synths and effects. If only 'The last Ride' was included on this album.Released 1982 "I could have been a psychic, but I drank my way out of it" Mark E.Julian Cope I would have never picked up a guitar. What rotten luck I hear you say, but tis true. With the Fall I can trace the most significant times in my teenage upbringing.Maybe it's those words he uses to bite through the bone and make you sit up and listen.Hex then burns and peels at the edges for 1 hour of supernatural cosmic weirdness.Smith has the ability to weave the fantastic with the mundane Which also appeals to me.Dick and putting their vision into everyday tales of pints of bitter, fish, chips and peas and Accrington brick, well, it set my mind on fire. Its one tense motherfucker, it seethes with violence, and its Northern. Not put off by this, he then formed the Magick powerhouse of Oz ,a collection of street musicians that would debut at the Straight theatre in the Haight Ashbury district that summer of '67.BB took great offence to this embarrassing episode, fell out with Anger and took off, allegedly nicking the work in progress of Lucifer Rising and burying it in the desert.Apparently the movie wasn't much to write home about as it seemed just to be footage of Bobby doing Kendo Nagasaki poses in front of the camera.Anyway for one reason or another Bobby then stabs a drug dealer to death over some shitty mescaline that didn't do the trick at the request of Charlie Manson, and ends up serving life in prison.Lucifer Rising was always on the back of Bobby's mind.He mended the rift between himself and Anger, and with the help of a prison warden and one Dr.Bobby set about forming the ironically named Freedom Orchestra.Such is the beauty of it.The music is almost liquefied.Phased Fender Rhodes blend into guitars then into keyboards set against simple but powerful musickal patterns. The use of the trumpet played by Herbie Rascone gives it a Miles Davis 'Sketches of Spain' feel. The music also has a feel of the more gentle moments of Ash Ra Tempel.Sandoz in the rain Formed in Germany in 1969 this offspring of Amon Duul became the most commercially successful and influential of the 2 revolutionary groups.Good thoughts, bad thoughts Funkadelic Formed in 1969 as an alternative to the horn blowin', good timey Parliament group.Ironically with Iraq and the disillusionment of the Bush administration, their music is just as important today as it was back then.Standing on the verge of getting it on' is simply acid funk at its finest.Instead I've decided to include Ashra's 1977 masterpiece 'New age of Earth' to our High priest listings.Aguirre 1 The finest musickal soundtrack to the greatest movie ever made by the greatest director who ever lived Werner Herzog, starring the Maddest actor ever in Klaus Kinski (forget Codename wildgeese, Android etc).It was an artistic orgy of heavenly proportions. These guys are the real deal.Tago Mago is their masterpiece, a deranged trippy double that seems like its been recorded by people who know some secret musickal lore, Dark, and at times just damn right nightmarish, when the world finally descends into uncontrollable entropy, it will be 'Oh Yeah' that you'll be hearing from the Atonement speakers .Bring me coffee or tea is the highlight of the album for me.Starting in a spidery bassline that's just plain hypnotic, with plucking acoustic guitar and keyboards playing behind Damo Suzuki's vocal that seems to stagger in a narcotic haze. The track ascends to a height of shamanistic fury.Leibzeits drums pounding in tribal voodoo ecstasy and Suzuki screaming like he need's the toilet real bad.In fact so wasted where the band members that Manuel Gottsching heard the album being played some months later in a record store.Just a great album from a great live band. This article or section needs to be wikified to meet Wikipedia's quality standards. Please help improve this article with relevant internal links. The Earthling Society is a 21st Century progressive, psychedelic, experimental band.Dissillusioned with the current music trends and sharing a love of 70's progressive rock, krautrock and 60's psychedelia, Earthling Society built a primitive 8 track recording studio in a corner of a disused glass factory.Ignoring any commercial intention they started recording what became their debut album Albion purely as they had the ability to do so.Mylodon records based in Santiago, Chile in March 2005, a move that Fred Laird described as a disaster. The release however started to receive glowing praise and critical acclaim amongst the press. In June 2005 Albion was picked up by Hans Georg Bier, head of Berlin based psychedelic label Nasoni records who promptly re released it on CD and vinyl formats.Earthling Society began work on the follow up entitled " Plastic Jesus and the third eye blind" which was released after supporting Julian Cope on his 2006 Dark Orgasm tour early that summer. The band in the meantime had become firm favouties on the European and UK festival circuits and for their appearance in Berlin at the tenth anniversary of Nasoni records, Irish keyboardist Kevy Canavan joined the group on a permanent basis. The winter of 2006 saw Earthling Society writing and recording their third studio LP, a 70 minute double LP entitled Tears of Andromeda, black sails against the sky. After a couple of appearances in the UK and the internet becoming littered with live and studio reviews Earthling Society have been in negotiations with UK based record distribution company Cargo records who officially release the band's entire back catalogue in the UK for the first time in September 2007.As it stands now they are currently writing their fourth LP, a working title given by the band as " Welcome to the new Dark Age ".Roadburn " festival will appear on a compilation album later this year, as well as a DVD release of highlights of their summer appearance at " Eastern Haze " festival earlier this summer. There is also a possibility of the fourth LP being released in the UK by London based label " Four Zero " records.Primary sources and sources affiliated label.Earthling Society is, in other words, pretty damn cool.PARABLE OF ARABLE LAND, and yooz almost there.Hawkwindisms of most festival bands.Chordless guitar notes burn and shatter as the sparks fly upwards, a musical key coagulates out of the ether and Fred Laird sings disembodied lyrics through what appears to be a ring modulated harmonium like that Cher song that robotized her.North Walean section of the Watling Street.Tractor duo did so well.Ride the universal mainline, Ride the universal mainline, Ride the universal mainline, Ride the universal mainline.Chain Gang laid on us via the No.We will not use your email address for any other purpose other than to notify you when this particular item is back in stock. The album is a crafty combination of spacey ambient jamming trips and outstanding cosmic rockers with wailing guitars and alienated electronics.El Universo Perdido de Los Natas ...Nasoni Pop Art Experimental Band...You did not enter a search term.Write a ReviewYour TakeTell the world what you think about Earthling Society!AEC One Stop Group, Inc.Ah, the delights of reviewing...Such is true of Earthling Society's two LPs, Plastic Jesus...Albion, which we received, completely unheralded, this last month. These two records are, in a word, utterly brilliant and I advise you to hunt them down without delay. There are two Kosmik Suites on this LP (showing that Earthling Soc's colours can be firmly pinned on the Kosmiche mast of Dieter Derks et al).The first suite starts of jauntily enough; a queasy synth takes us back to Gong's mid 70s releases (or at least the 70s "shout about Pepsi" advert) Once the vocals enter all is changed and the band are effectively paying homage to 7 Up.It is jangly, meditational (despite the jauntiness of the playing), and groovy. The music soon begins to work up a head of steam in the second part of the suite with a formidable guitar work out which judders to a halt...Girls Talk is a standard, but pleasant West Coast Psychedelic cut.As it is, We're Not Gonna Make It comes as something of a shock, as the music really shifts up a gear and enters true Hawkwind territory.Ragnarok (or is it Mimir's Spring? At this precise point 9 minutes in, I don't know, I'm still battered by the sonic weight of the guitars) at once becalms, and then prepares us (I'm sure) for another bout of space rock. This must be The Black Heart of the Sun.Things do calm down considerably, and for a while we're back in As Ra Land again. And, after all that, you get a live bonus track! As to Albion, well, I have to say this is a tremendous release, much more spacey and varied than Plastic Jesus...The title track seems to pull these yearnings into a coherent sonic whole.Beltane Queen continues the folky space groove feel; it's a classic meditational piece, enlivened by pattering congas and a reedy flute. As is de rigeur with Earthling Society LPs, we get a behemoth clocking in at around 15 minutes to end proceedings.YOffset +
