BIOGRAPHYEDDIE GALE was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1941 where
he recalls listening to gospel and blues with his family at an early age.SUN RA by DRUMMER SCOBY STROMAN.SUN RA, the master psychologist.TAYLOR first heard me during a loft jazz session where I was
playing with SUN RA.One example is the
tune ENTER EVENING from the UNIT STRUCTURES album.This piece is also included in the
SMITHSONIAN COLLECTION OF CLASSIC JAZZ.GALE first came to California when he performed in residence with the CECIL TAYLOR UNIT
and played the BERKELEY JAZZ FESTIVAL, which also featured MILES DAVIS and CARMEN MCRAE.They later performed together at the East
Cultural Center in New York.GALE later recorded with ORGANIST LARRY
YOUNG.It was a different challenge.EDDIE developed a great
admiration for COLTRANE at this time.Having a family at a young age, GALE often had to
work during the day and play music at night.JOHN COLTRANE got his horn out of the pawn shop.He was out of touch with
COLTRANE at that time and could not be reached.To GALE, JOHN COLTRANE represents the
spiritual expression of music.She encouraged him to listen to JOHN and assured him that JOHN would help him.BUD and BUTTERCUP at their home.The personnel on the GHETTO MUSIC album included two bass players, JUDAH SAMUELS and TOKYO
REID, and two drummers, T.SQUIRE HOLMAN and RICHARD HACKETT.RHYTHM HAPPENING, featured ELVIN JONES, JIMMY LYONS, MATTATHIAS PEARSON, and ROLAND
ALEXANDER.The music received rave reviews.This project was arranged by poet JOHNNY SCOTT, radio
personality BUFF POHAM, and STANFORD football star NATE KURTMAN.AMBASSADOR OF JAZZ from then MAYOR NORM MINETA for his
efforts to help bring jazz to San Jose.WHO IN THE WORLD (1999).Gale was introduced to ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) by

flutters with sudden flares in a Miles Davis manner.Early in life, he studied trumpet with Kenny Dorham.In the early 1960s he was introduced to Sun Ra by drummer Scoby Stroman.You play ideas on your instrument that you never imagine.During the 1960s and 1970s, he toured and recorded extensively with Sun Ra, who influenced him greatly until Ra's death in 1993.He has lived in San Jose, California since 1972.The Coup, whereby Gale's trumpet could be heard engaging with the music's breakbeats and turntables.External links
