Garrison's Fancy New Vagina Die Hippie, Die Wing Best Friends Forever The Losing Edge The Death of Eric Cartman Erection Day Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow Marjorine Follow That Egg!"Ginger Kids" is episode 136 of the Comedy Central series South Park.He explains they suffer from "gingervitis" and their light skin comes from their lack of a soul. His speech encourages other students to discriminate against gingers, Kyle decides to make his presentation about the genetic causes of gingers being born.Kyle interviews a family with ginger children, and it soon becomes apparent that although Cartman's prejudiced ideas about Gingers are untrue, the fact remains that the general public, even their own parents, carry a similar bigoted hatred and intolerance toward them (although ironically, the gingers are depicted as being genuinely creepy).Kyle's status as a "Daywalker" prevents anybody from listening though, so he and the others agree that Cartman needs to be taught a lesson. They get together in the night to dye Cartman's hair red, bleach his skin a lighter hue, and give him henna freckles, to make him "ginger", after which Cartman begins to be discriminated against by the kids he influenced by his speech. However, Cartman becomes a leader of the "Ginger Separatist Movement", at first asking to be treated like everyone else.Following Cartman's orders, the gingers abduct as many of South Park's children as they can, including Stan and Kyle, then bring them to their meeting place the Sunset Room at the Airport Hilton to throw them all into a pit of lava.Kyle is chosen as the first to die, but before the gingers throw him into the lava, he whispers to Cartman that they really made him look ginger, and Cartman is shocked. He then tells his followers that he has suddenly had an epiphany, and now realizes that everybody has to get along. As the other children are freed, Kyle mutters to Cartman that he is a manipulative asshole.Cartman (for once) agrees, but doesn't care as long as he isn't killed by the people of his movement.Popular culture references When concluding his first speech, Cartman says "If you think that the ginger problem is not a serious one," He then shows a picture of Carrot Top and Sean Doherty and finishes his sentence saying "think again."The ginger kids appearing at a window is a reference to the TV adaptation of the Stephen King book 'Salem's Lot.When Cartman wakes up, before he realizes he is now ginger, as he walks across the hall to the bathroom he sings "Lucille" by Kenny Rogers. The nagging hotel clerk at the ginger's hotel convention meeting is a reference to The Witches. In the playground scene, when Cartman and the ginger kids shout "Better red than dead", it is a parody of "Better dead than red", a phrase used by Americans in the Cold War.When the ginger kids appear at night, scare off several children in South Park and two of them lock themselves in to escape it is a reference to Michael Jackson's music video "Thriller".Trey Parker references his recent marriage to Emma Sugiyama in this episode when the ginger's Father tells Kyle the only way to prevent Ginger children is to marry an Asian. While the show correctly states that red hair is a recessive trait, and implies that fair skin is a recessive trait, the advent of freckles is a dominant trait. This page was last modified on 21 Koran, the sacred book of the Moslems, indicating it was known in Arab countries as far back as 650 A.It was one of the earliest spice known in Western Europe, used since the ninth century. It became so popular in Europe that it was included in every table setting, like salt and pepper.Renaissance trade, it was one of the spices used against the plague.Whole raw roots are generally referred to as fresh ginger.Jamaican ginger, which is pale buff, is regarded as the best variety.African and Indian ginger is darker skinned and generally inferior, with the exception of Kenya ginger.Whole fresh roots provide the freshest taste. The roots are collected and shipped when they are still immature, the outer skin is a light green colour. The ginger pieces and syrup are canned together.Crystallized ginger is also cooked in sugar syrup, then air dried and rolled in sugar. In Asian cooking ginger is almost always used fresh, either minced, crushed or sliced.Fresh ginger can be kept for several weeks in the salad drawer of the refrigerator.Store dried and powdered ginger in airtight containers.Fresh ginger is essential to Asian and oriental cookery. It is used in pickles, chutneys and curry pastes and the ground dried root is a constituent of many curry powders.Tender young ginger can be sliced and eaten as a salad.Sometimes the roots will produce green sprouts which can be finely chopped and added to a green salad. In the West, dried ginger is mainly used in cakes and biscuits, especially ginger snaps and gingerbread.Ginger is also used in puddings, jams, preserves and in some drinks like ginger beer, ginger wine and tea.Pickled ginger is a delicious accompaniment to satays and a colourful garnish to many Chinese dishes.Preserved ginger is eaten as a confection, chopped up for cakes and puddings, and is sometimes used as an ice cream ingredient.Fresh Flavour that's Packing Heat.Ginger has long been ascribed aphrodisiac powers, taken either internally or externally.Ginger is a known diaphoretic, meaning it causes one to sweat.Ginger is most commonly known for its effectiveness as a digestive aid.By increasing the production of digestive fluids and saliva, Ginger helps relieve indigestion, gas pains, diarrhea and stomach cramping. The primary known constituents of Ginger Root include gingerols, zingibain, bisabolenel, oleoresins, starch, essential oil (zingiberene, zingiberole, camphene, cineol, borneol), mucilage, and protein.Ginger root is also used to treat nausea related to both motion sickness and morning sickness.Ginger's therapeutic properties effectively stimulate circulation of the blood, removing toxins from the body, cleansing the bowels and kidneys, and nourishing the skin.Other uses for Ginger Root include the treatment of asthma, bronchitis and other respiratory problems by loosening and expelling phlegm from the lungs.Ginger Root may also be used to help break fevers by warming the body and increasing perspiration. For detailed instructions on growing it in pots see Growing your own ginger.Illustrations by Barbara McGee, exclusively for the Epicentre.Ginger, the underground stem, or rhizome, of the plant Zingiber officinale has been used as a medicine in Asian, Indian, and Arabic herbal traditions since ancient times. In China, for example, ginger has been used to aid digestion and treat stomach upset, diarrhea, and nausea for more than 2,000 years.Since ancient times, ginger has also been used to help treat arthritis, colic, diarrhea, and heart conditions.Native to Asia where its use as a culinary spice spans at least 4,400 years, ginger grows in fertile, moist, tropical soil.Ginger is a knotted, thick, beige underground stem (rhizome). The important active components of the ginger root are thought to be volatile oils and pungent phenol compounds (such as gingerols and shogaols).Today, ginger root is widely used as a digestive aid for mild stomach upset and is commonly recommended by health care professionals to help prevent or treat nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness, pregnancy, and cancer chemotherapy.Ginger is used as support in inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, and may even be used in heart disease or cancer.Several studies suggest that ginger may be more effective than placebo in reducing symptoms associated with motion sickness. In one trial of 80 novice sailors (prone to motion sickness), those who took powdered ginger experienced a significant reduction in vomiting and cold sweating compared to those who took placebo. While these results are promising, other studies suggest that ginger is not as effective as medications in reducing symptoms associated with motion sickness. In a small study of volunteers who were given ginger (fresh root and powder form), scopolamine (a medication commonly prescribed for motion sickness), or placebo, those receiving the medication experienced significantly fewer symptoms compared to those who received ginger.Given the safety of ginger, many people find it a welcome alternative to these medications to relieve their motion sickness. In a small study including 30 pregnant women with severe vomiting, those who ingested 1 gram of ginger every day for four days reported more relief from vomiting than those who received placebo. In a larger study including 70 pregnant women with nausea and vomiting, those who received a similar dosage of ginger felt less nauseous and experienced fewer vomiting episodes than those who received placebo. There is evidence from a few studies that suggests ginger reduces the severity and duration of nausea (but not vomiting) during chemotherapy.Research has produced mixed results regarding the use of ginger in the treatment of nausea and vomiting following surgery. In two studies, 1 gram of ginger root before surgery reduced nausea as effectively as a leading medication.Other studies, however, have failed to find the same positive effects. For this reason, further studies are needed to determine whether ginger is safe and effective for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting following surgery. In addition to providing relief from nausea and vomiting, ginger extract has long been used in traditional medical practices to decrease inflammation. In fact, many health care professionals today use ginger to help treat health problems associated with inflammation, such as arthritis and ulcerative colitis.Although it is much too early to tell if this will benefit those with heart disease, a few preliminary studies suggest that ginger may lower cholesterol and prevent the blood from clotting. Each of these effects may protect the blood vessels from blockage and the damaging effects of blockage such as atherosclerosis, which can lead to a heart attack or stroke.More research needs to be performed to determine the effects of ginger on various cancers in humans.Ginger products are made from fresh or dried ginger root, or from steam distillation of the oil in the root.Fresh ginger root can also be purchased and prepared as a tea.Ginger should not be used by children under 2 years of age.Ginger may be used by children over 2 years of age to treat nausea, digestive cramping, and headaches. In general, ginger intake should not exceed 4 grams in one day (this includes the ginger obtained through diet such as from ginger ale, ginger snaps, and ginger bread).Topical ginger oil may also be rubbed into a painful joint.Fresh ginger root may also be placed in a warm poultice or compress and apply to painful areas.Side effects associated with ginger are rare, but if taken in excessive doses the herb may cause mild heartburn. Some of the mild gastrointestinal side effects, such as belching, heartburn, or stomach upset, may be relieved by taking ginger supplements in capsules.People with gallstones should consult a doctor before taking ginger.Make sure to tell your doctor if you are taking ginger and will be going to surgery or placed under anesthesia for any reason.Do not take ginger if you have a bleeding disorder or if you are taking blood thinning medications, including aspirin. If you are currently being treated with any of the following medications, you should not use ginger without first talking to your health care provider. However, people taking medications that thin the blood should use ginger only under the supervision of a health care provider.Effects of a ginger extract on knee pain in patients with osteoarthritis.Apariman S, Ratchanon S, Wiriyasirivej B.Effectiveness for each of the nutrients of which it is a good, very good, or excellent source according to our Food Rating System. In herbal medicine, ginger is regarded as an excellent carminative (a substance which promotes the elimination of intestinal gas) and intestinal spasmolytic (a substance which relaxes and soothes the intestinal tract).Ginger reduces all symptoms associated with motion sickness including dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and cold sweating.Unlike antivomiting drugs, which can cause severe birth defects, ginger is extremely safe, and only a small dose is required.April 2005 issue of the journal, Obstetrics and Gynecology, has confirmed that ginger is effective in relieving the severity of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. The review also confirmed the absence of significant side effects or adverse effects on pregnancy outcomes. These substances are believed to explain why so many people with osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis experience reductions in their pain levels and improvements in their mobility when they consume ginger regularly.Regularly spicing up your meals with fresh ginger may help, suggests a study published in a recent issue of Osteoarthritis Cartilage.Patients switched from placebo to ginger or visa versa after 3 months.By the end of the first six month period, those given ginger were experiencing significantly less pain on movement and handicap than those given placebo.Pain on movement decreased from a score of 76.In contrast, those who were switched from ginger to placebo experienced an increase in pain of movement (up to 82.In the final phase of the study when all patients were getting ginger, pain remained low in those already taking ginger in phase 2, and decreased again in the group that had been on placebo. Not only did participants' subjective experiences of pain lessen, but swelling in their knees, an objective measurement of lessened inflammation, dropped significantly in those treated with ginger. The mean target knee circumference in those taking ginger dropped from 43.When this group was switched to placebo in the second phase of the study, their knee circumferences increased, while those who had been on placebo but were now switched to ginger experienced a decrease in knee circumference. In the final phase, when both groups were given ginger, mean knee circumference continued to drop, reaching lows of 38.Two other recent studies provide possible reasons.By day 49, all the control mice had been euthanized since their tumors had grown to one cubic centimeter (0.In this first round of experiments, mice were fed ginger before and after tumor cells were injected. In the next round, researchers will feed the mice ginger only after their tumors have grown to a certain size. This will enable them to were also decreased in the ovarian cancer cells.Immune Boosting Action Ginger can not only be warming on a cold day, but can help promote healthy sweating, which is often helpful during colds and flus.Dermicidin is manufactured in the body's sweat glands, secreted into the sweat, and transported to the skin's surface where it provides protection against invading microorganisms, including bacteria such as E.Ginger is so concentrated with active substances, you don't have to use very much to receive its beneficial effects. The plant's botanical name is thought to be derived from its Sanskrit name "singabera" which means "horn shaped," a physical characteristic that ginger reflects. The flesh of the ginger rhizome can be yellow, white or red in color, depending upon the variety. It is covered with a brownish skin that may either be thick or thin, depending upon whether the plant was harvested when it was mature or young. The ginger rhizome has a firm, yet striated texture and a taste that is aromatic, pungent and hot.History Native to southeastern Asia, a region whose cuisines still feature this wonderfully spicy herb, ginger has been renowned for millennia in many areas throughout the world.Ginger is mentioned in ancient Chinese, Indian and Middle Eastern writings, and has long been prized for its aromatic, culinary and medicinal properties. After the ancient Romans imported ginger from China almost two thousand years ago, its popularity in Europe remained centered in the Mediterranean region until the Middle Ages when its use spread throughout other countries.Although it was a very expensive spice, owing to the fact that it had to be imported from Asia, it was still in great demand. In an attempt to make it more available, Spanish explorers introduced ginger to the West Indies, Mexico and South America, and in the 16th century, these areas began exporting the precious herb back to Europe.Today, the top commercial producers of ginger include Jamaica, India, Fiji, Indonesia and Australia.Fresh ginger root is sold in the produce section of markets. When purchasing fresh ginger root, make sure it is firm, smooth and free of mold.Ginger is generally available in two forms, either young or mature.Mature ginger, the more widely available type, has a tough skin that requires peeling while young ginger, usually only available in Asian markets, does not need to be peeled.Even through dried herbs and spices like ginger powder are widely available in supermarkets, you may want to explore the local spice stores in your area.Oftentimes, these stores feature an expansive selection of dried herbs and spices that are of superior quality and freshness than those offered in regular markets.Just like with other dried spices, when purchasing dried ginger powder try to select organically grown ginger since this will give you more assurance that it has not been irradiated.Ginger is also available in several other forms including crystallized, candied and pickled ginger.Fresh ginger can be stored in the refrigerator for up to three weeks if it is left unpeeled.Stored unpeeled in the freezer, it will keep for up to six months.Dried ginger powder should be kept in a tightly sealed glass container in a cool, dark and dry place.Tips for Preparing Ginger: To remove the skin from fresh mature ginger, peel with a paring knife. The ginger can then be sliced, minced or julienned. The taste that ginger imparts to a dish depends upon when it is added during the cooking process.Few Quick Serving Ideas: Turn up the heat while cooling off by making ginger lemonade.Simply combine freshly grated ginger, lemon juice, cane juice or honey and water.Add extra inspiration to your rice side dishes by sprinkling grated ginger, sesame seeds and nori strips on top.Combine ginger, tamari, olive oil and garlic to make a wonderful salad dressing.Add grated ginger to your favorite stuffing for baked apples.Safety Ginger (ROSC.Said to be a native of Asia.Cultivated in West Indies, Jamaica, Africa. The root from the West Indies is considered the best. Also imported from Africa, there are several varieties known in commerce.Coated or Uncoated' is the trade term for peel on or skinned.Green Ginger is the immature undried rhizome.Preserved Ginger is made by steeping the root in hot syrup.Ginger is a perennial root which creeps and increases underground, in tuberous joints; in the spring it sends up from its roots a green reed, like a stalk, 2 feet high, with narrow lanceolate leaves; these die down annually.Commercial Ginger is called black or white, according to whether it is peeled or unpeeled; for both kinds the ripened roots are used, after the plant has died down. The black are scalded in boiling water, then dried in the sun.The white (best) are scraped clean and dried, without being scalded. The water is changed several times, so that the process takes three or four days. The tubers are then put into jars and covered with a weak syrup; this is changed after a few days' soaking for a stronger syrup, which is again changed for a still stronger one.The discarded syrups are fermented and made into a liquor called 'cool drink'; a few drops of chloroform or chloride are generally added to the preserve to prevent insects breeding in it.Ginger flowers have an aromatic smell and the bruised stem a characteristic fragrance, but the root is considered the most useful part of the plant, and must not be used under a year's growth. The peeling has to be done very thinly or the richest part of the resin and volatile oil is lost. The Chinese fresh Ginger is grated into powder.African and Cochin Ginger yield the most resin and volatile oil.The root must be kept in a dry place, or it will start growing and is then spoilt. The odour of Ginger is penetrating and aromatic, its taste spicy, hot and biting; these properties are lost by exposure. The most common adulterants are flour, curcuma, linseed, rapeseed, the hulls of cayenne pepper and waste ginger.Ginger Tea is a hot infusion very useful for stoppage of the mensesdue to cold, externally it is a rubefacient.Essence of Ginger should be avoided, as it is often adulterated with harmful ingredients.Fluid extract, 10 to 20 drops.
