New!The new form, printed in 2008, includes changes in Requirement 5 and the BSA Local Council Certification.Greater Yosemite Council has implemented new procedures to help units provide awards and rank advancements.West Fellowship is a great way to recognize the accomplishments of a Scout or Scouter in your unit or district.West Fellowship Award through the Greater Yosemite Council.Contact the Council Service Center for more information.Patches may be ordered online.Plan to present your patches before the end of the Scouting year!The application is available from the Council Service Center and needs to be submitted to the District Executive at least two weeks in advance of the fundraiser.Add ranks (Advancement Report required!Be sure to print out the Internet Advancement Report or fill one out at the Board of Review, obtain the required signatures and present it to the Scout Shop to obtain advancement recognitions!Tell us about your Good Turn!All packs, troops, and crews which have conducted any type of community service during 2007, including Scouting for Food, are requested to report their service as part of the Good Turn for America initiative.This also includes service rendered on behalf of Eagle Scout projects.Contact the Council Service Center for more information.Come on and check them out.Scout Shops, online, and through its retailers across the country.The GYCOn Thursday I left the Idd Crowd Hostel which was superb and our home for 5 nights in Singapore.After a final game of pool I said an emoitonal farewell to the 4 members of the Gap Year Crew, plugged my iPod in pulled on my pack and walked out the door.The first steps of my 4 week personal journey to Cambodia, Vietnam and self discovery.Listening to my music as I changed lines 3 times.Some great tracks which over the last 12 weeks I've assembled into a Gap Year playlist.The guys flight departed at 2215 to Cairns, Australia.Looking at the Jetstat check in to Cambodia I walked by and approached the Quantas desk, stating I wished to change my Cairns flight back to the original date of today.AirAsia and Jetstar desks, the airlines where my new flights where booked, and notifyed them I would not be on the flight.When they asked why I simply stated with a smile on my face, just I wanted to go to Australia with my mates.It was a long wait at the airport, and at one point GYCon Facebook Rick and Ross both wrote on my wall, which made me think they had seen me, especially when for reasons even unknown to him Ross wrote "Speak on the Plane" when he knew I wasn't going to be there.About 30 mins before the flight departed, I saw them my 4 brothers.Jonny was the first to see me and after the confusion was resolved and it was clear I was coming to Oz, the GYC was reunited.This journey both geographically and mentally was about the 5 of us, that's how it has to be.Cairns the best 4 friends anyone could ever wish for, I had taken this for granted, and was glad I'd realised before getting to Cambodia.Again thanks for reading, drop me a comment.Mum: GYCThis is your EXTREMELY relieved mother.Great photos of you all together.Under no circumstances should the photos or text be used without the express written permission of the Author (James Caroll).
