Gyroscope biography, Gyroscope discography
Ever wondered how that thing works?Explore the inner workings of many common devices and inventions, as well as those that aren't so common, such as compasses, gyroscopes and bug zappers.Gyroscopes can be very perplexing objects because they move in peculiar ways and even seem to defy gravity. These special properties make gyroscopes extremely important in everything from your bicycle to the advanced navigation system on the space shuttle. The Russian Mir space station used 11 gyroscopes to keep its orientation to the sun, and the Hubble Space Telescope has a batch of navigational gyros as well.In this edition of HowStuffWorks, we will look at gyroscopes to understand why they are so useful in so many different places. You will also come to see the reason behind their very odd behavior!Produced since 1917, the gyroscope has been a classic educational toy for generations. It continues to fascinate young and old alike with its mysterio...This scientific marvel is packages in a clear plastic box.GENERAL FEATURES: This is the original TEDCO Gyroscope packed in nostalgic 1950's twin pack.Like all gyroscopes, hours of fun and entertainment await...For Mac Firefox we have to add this kludge to prevent our scrollbar from
bleeding through to the other layers of the TabBox.Note: some videos not suitable for minors may still appear in search results. This video will appear on your blog shortly. This video has been added to your favorites. Please login to add to flag a video. This video has no Responses.AFL is the fucking best.Snakeskin is the fucking best.Is it alright to like both sports and gyroscope?Music video for Australian rock group Gyroscope...Music video for Australian rock group Gyroscope.Filmed on 16mm film on 14th August 2007 at Woodborough Hill, Alton Barnes, Wiltshire. How To Make Breakfas t i...Announci ng a Presiden ti..."YouTube recommends upgrading to a safer, modern browsersuch as Firefox. This Gyroscope XT is a well balanced toy for all ages.It comes with string, pull cord and paper pocket trick instructions. This mini gyroscope comes in a box just 2.High quality replacement strings for toy gyroscopes.Tedco, Deluxe and Japanese gyroscopes. As the earth rotated beneath the gyroscope, it would maintain its orientation
in space. The gimbal bearings also introduce unwanted torque. The unmarked gyroscope
at the right in the Garland Collection of Classical Physics Apparatus at
Vanderbilt University. This gyroscope, at Marietta College in Ohio, bears a
close resemblance to the one above. This is another example of Sire's gyroscope, this time by Newton
and Company of London. After I returned home from photographing this piece of apparatus
at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio in October 2004, I
realized that I had seen the rotor to this apparatus, and it looked just
like the rotor on the right, above at Cornell University. The other phenomenon commonly associated
with the gyroscope is precession under the influence of a gravitational
torque. This apparatus was made by Ritchie of Boston sometime
after 1881.The aluminum nut holding on the counterweight is obviously a
replacement.Kenyon College collection is by the Scientific Apparatus Company of Yonkers,
New York, and is probably from the nineteen twenties. It has the advantage
that it is electrically driven.Marys College in Notre Dame, Indiana.Fessel gyroscope at the right atop a tall cabinet in one of the lecture preparation
rooms at the University of Texas at Austin in January 2003.The gyroscope
probably dates from about 1920.This amazing gyroscope is by Queen of Philadelphia, and is
in the collection of Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York.Fessel gyroscope in the Kenyon collection that is shown above. It is exactly like the Bohnenberger's
apparatus, except that the brass wheel and its accompanying gimbals has
been replaced by an ivory billiard ball.Hobart and William Smith Colleges
in Geneva, New York. The unmarked gyroscope below dates from the first part of the twentieth
century, and is in the apparatus collection at Westminster College in western
Pennsylvania.Apparatus, which dates of 1817.One typical type of gyroscope is made by suspending a relatively massive rotor inside three rings called gimbals.Mounting each of these rotors on high quality bearing surfaces insures that very little torque can be exerted on the inside rotor. The classic image of a gyroscope is a fairly massive rotor suspended in light supporting rings called gimbals which have nearly frictionless bearings and which isolate the central rotor from outside torques. At high speeds, the gyroscope exhibits extraordinary stability of balance and maintains the direction of the high speed rotation axis of its central rotor.Spinning tops, the wheels of bicycles and motorcycles, the spin of the Earth in space, even the behavior of a boomerang are examples of gyroscopic motion. If a gyroscope is tipped, the gimbals will try to reorient to keep the spin axis of the rotor in the same direction. If released in this orientation, the gyroscope will precess in the direction shown because of the torque exerted by gravity on the gyroscope.Gyroscope is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
