Hamster Theatre biography, Hamster Theatre discography

Hamster Theatre is an ensemble that plays a fusion of jazz, rock, folk and world music and is influenced by 20th century musicians. There is no way to easily put them into a particular category as they seem to cross borders between these various genres. The first lineup consisted of Dave on guitar, keyboards and melodeon, Jon on bass, greg LaLiberte on saxophones and flute, Deborah Perry on keyboards and performing the vocals, Steve Doyle on guitar, and Josh Wright on drums.Songs From The Hamster Theatre (1995, Prolific Records). This album was to be released on Cuneiform Records and therefore got the band to work on it with extra attention to details and they put into it much hard work.Hamster Theatre is an ensemble that plays a fusion of jazz, rock, folk and world music and is influenced by details and they put into it much hard work. After the release of this album, the bass position experienced some frequent changes.Dave had Mike Fitzmaurice replaced and at first Dave and Jon performed the bass part in alternation. Then Raoul recommended that Brian MacDougal take over the bass part (he is heard on the Quasi Day Room: Live at the Moore Theatre). They have created their own unique sound and their musicianship is evident.Sell your HAMSTER THEATRE items on eBay !Plus, the album page (but not the band page) for Gentle Giant's "Octopus."The Public Execution of Mr.HT music is nothing like their RIO, miles away. The Public Execution of Mr.Break half their instruments 5.Hire some much better musicians 6.Put a really hard piece of music in front of them. This music is sublime, charming, confusing and ridiculously complex. Are you a student of orchestration?Musics such as this refuse to die, refuse to go away.Categorizing this kind of music would be a quite difficult task.Stubbs, is also responsible for the compositions. In short, these guys are remarkably talented and creative.THE geographical era right now for any innovative and original music.Thinking Plagues "In Extremis") that never gets tiresome or too familiar.C, electricity or hot meals.Hamster Theatre is one of Colorado's most gloriously twisted exports. The initial pair of cuts on Execution set the stage for the idiosyncratic joys that follow. That's followed by "162," which weaves Eastern European folk, skronk, prog and more into an intriguing aural tapestry. What makes you think this is a good place to bring a date? This is the second album from Hamster Theatre proper (if you don't count bandleader Dave Willey's solo album Songs from the Hamster Theatre).Legged Sally, Alamaailman Vasarat and Univers Zero.On the other hand, maybe I'm just getting that impression because I've gotten more exposure to other avant bands since first hearing Hamster Theater.Carnival is aptly titled, as it contains a lot of music that people who dislike the style would probably call "circus music".Blend in jazz and reaggae, with dashes of metallic guitar and a horn section, a little piano and melodica, music reminiscent of the theme from The Simpsons, plus some music you might hear while taking a gondola ride in Venice, and you've got something close to this album. In other words, all over the map. There are bits that are upbeat, bits that are aggressive and bits that are brooding and menacing. To balance that out, some of the other tracks have melodies so catchy that you'll be humming them long after the disc is over. Both Hamster Theatre discs are worth picking up, but if you're new to the band my advice would be to start with the first album. The thing starts with a dub reggae hook that slowly morphs into a brutal and chaotic riff.On a good stereo, this is one of the best sounding songs I've ever heard. After coming up to the ruins of a cabin, with no roof, and only 3 walls, I find a room almost completely intact, with furniture and all. That is, I've been transported to another dimension, but only long enough to know that it happened. The cabin is gone, and so is the forest. But the music box is still playing somewhere. This whole album wasn't for me, but the parts that appealed to me were beyond amazing.I've run around the habitrail many times, and I give up every time.Moving from the exceedingly hectic and frenetic to the nearly serene through seemingly effortless gestures, Hamster Theatre all the while maintains a highly refined sense of tension between reassuring and disturbing tonalities.By demanding close listening, Hamster Theatre offers music among that rare kind of stuff that continues to reveal nuances and details with repeated listening over long periods.Especially in this case, because of the way in which the elements interact within pieces as well as between pieces.Dave Willey: accordions, keyboards, bass, drums, guitarJon Stubbs: trombone, would not last.Thinking Plague, which also included guitarist Mike Johnson and reed player Mark Harris.Hamster Theatre along with newcomers Mike Fitzmaurice on bass and Raoul Rossiter on drums. The album was recorded in Colorado with Willey and Stubbs on a multitude of instruments; support from the other Hamsters Harris, Johnson, Fitzmaurice, and Rossiter; and additional contributions from four guest musicians.Although on the Hamster Theatre website misgivings are expressed from Willey and Stubbs about their decision "to mess with Bob's master, significantly squashing the sonic palette he had created," Carnival Detournement was nonetheless released to considerable critical acclaim for its melodic, atmospheric, moody, and unpredictable blend of modern classical, avant rock, and European folk influences.Quasi Day Room also includes a studio disc featuring new compositions mainly by Willey and Stubbs, some written for modern dance and multimedia performances. The live and studio discs were both mixed and mastered by Drake, and this time Willey and Stubbs promised no sonic squashing.Meanwhile, bassists have continued to enter and exit through Hamster Theatre's revolving door.Between the Hamsters' Progman Cometh performance and the recording of the Mister Personality studio tracks, McDougall departed the band and was replaced by Matt Spencer."Oye Comatose," and Willey handles the
