numbers or by Email.Told to explain digital storytelling I would not mince my words!Input is beginning to emerge on some of the critical issues that the Harambee Project needs to do in order to address the much desired practice of sharing information and knowledge.It would be interesting to note that the Harambee Coordination Committee set up some necessary platforms that would enhance sharing.Network coordinators who lacked capacity to use them were trained and for a while it seemed things would be fine.Whereas the Coordination Committee remains true to these standards, network coordinators who in this case are the actual implementers of the Harambee project slackened.It is not poor workmanship that we should lay blame on the tools.Festive season blues as we know them are such a big hindrance in jumpstarting people from leisure moments to serious activities.Harambee: is the future certain?Harambee is still struggling in achieving on its most desired aim of reinforcing collaboration and the implied knowledge sharing that comes with it.As Phase 2 of the Harambee Project being coordinated by Bellanet Africa draws to an end, the Harambee Coordination Committee is organizing a workshop to consolidate the learning from the project as well as charter a way forward for the future.In addition, there will be a training in Digital Storytelling to support documentation of network experiences.Harambee safari: achievements, challenges, learnings and opportunities.The workshop will bring together about 23 participants from the Harambee project partners, researchers, and participants from other knowledge sharing networks in Africa.It produces healthy crops that in turn nourish people.Soil Health and also learn from each other.Sahara Africa is currently implementing the Soil Health Networks project.This project aims to identify all existing Soil Health networks and encourage them to share information across African networks that have similar goals with the project.The network is also faced with limited finances for children at risk activities, increased number of children at risk in Africa due to political causes, poverty, neglect by the International community, limited skills in the areas of care and development of children and limited support from governments in Africa for child related issues.Overcoming these obstacles will require an increase in the concern for the plight of children in war areas like Internally Displaced Places (IDPs) in Uganda and Dafur, flood affected areas of Mozambique and Zimbabwe, which is currently under political tension.The fast moving technology innovations will definitely bring a smile to power disadvantaged people in the developing world.You will agree with me electricity has been and still is, one of the biggest challenges of most ICT projects.AIDS is contributing to a growing number of orphans who prematurely assume responsibility for their siblings.Boys tend to head households because Ugandan culture prescribes that they adopt that responsibility, even if they have older sisters.With Digital storytelling anybody can produce a unique storyHarambee: a journey of critical lessonsAnother step into the workshopHarambee: is the future certain?Taking its name from the Swahili word for working in partnership, Harambee is a Development Education centre which promotes understanding and action on global issues.We provide opportunities for young people to understand more about how their everyday actions affect the world around them and how they can take action on global issues.The Harambee Centre for Development and Environment Education

Harambee based Global Thinking Team put on an event to celebrate the first five years of East of England Development Education Network, to look forward to the next five years and inspire and inform educators from around the Eastern Region.Local Authority education advisors, teacher training tutors, and education staff of Development Education centres and local and national NGOs that support the global dimension in schools.There was a sustained atmosphere of engagement, momentum and purpose throughout the day.Autumn newsletter publicises The International Day of Peace on the 21st of September.It also features a Hertfordshire schoolteacher discussing how she fitted peace and conflict issues into the curriculum.It contains the usual feature on resources (which complement the peace theme of this issue) and a list of upcoming events.Harambee does global games with 680 Beaver Scouts!Harambee being asked back for next year's event!Summer Newsletter now available
