Isao Tomita biography, Isao Tomita discography

For the first time, I discovered that the synthesizer is not an instrument to compose music by using the sounds of existing instruments, but a new instrument or new machine which creates unlimited sound sources".Tomita's worldwide debut, 'Snowflakes are Dancing'.At the same time, he honed his art and supported himself by composing for local orchestras.TV show called 'White Lion', which was performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic. It also received the NARM award for Best Classical Record in that year.Snowflakes are Dancing' and Tomita's four following albums.Electronic interpretations of popular classical works continued, each with impeccable sonic credentials and craftsmanship. With 'The Bermuda Triangle', also nominated for a Grammy award in 1979, a fifth audio channel was added to the quad mix, dubbed 'Pyramid Sound' by Tomita. The analogue synthesisers of the previous eight years were given more of a back seat with the introduction of digital instruments on 'Grand Canyon', for which Tomita was again nominated for a Grammy award in 1982.Casio Cosmo system around 1984, although for his new recording 'Bach Fantasy', he has revisited his old analogue instruments, with digital sampling devices being used to recreate the sounds of old.Tomita has been involved with musical events throughout the world such as his 1984 'Mind of the Universe' concert in Linz, Austria which drew 80,000 people. In 1986, a gigantic concert called 'Back to the Earth' was held in New York in commemoration of the centennial of the Statue of Liberty.Sound Cloud' concert was also held in Sydney to mark the occasion of the Australia Bicentenary in 1988.Tomita remains at the top of his profession as he celebrates over 40 years in music. He is now the Honorary President of the Japan Synthesizer Programmers Association. Please improve this article if you can.Biography Tomita was born in Tokyo and spent his early childhood with his father in China. In 1965, he composed the theme song and incidental music for Osamu Tezuka's animated TV series Jangaru Taitei (Jungle Emperor), released in the USA as Kimba the White Lion.TV series Mighty Jack, which aired in 1968.In the late 1960s, he turned his attention to electronic music after hearing albums by Walter Carlos in which Walter performed classical music with the Moog synthesizer.Isao acquired a Moog III synthesizer and began building his home studio. He started arranging Claude Debussy's pieces for synthesizer and in 1974 the album Snowflakes are Dancing was released; it became a worldwide success. While not bootlegs at least some of these releases were issued by film and TV production companies without Tomita's artistic approval.Tomita has performed a number of outdoor "Sound Cloud" concerts, with speakers surrounding the audience in a "cloud of sound".He gave a big concert in 1984 at the annual contemporary music Ars Electronica festival in Linz, Austria called "Mind of the Universe", live mixing tracks in a glass pyramid suspended over an audience of 80,000 people. He performed another concert in New York two years later to celebrate the Statue of Liberty centennial ("Back to the Earth") as well as one in Sydney in 1988 for Australia's Bicentennial.A7 Million gift from Japan to New South Wales, which included the largest ever fireworks display at that time, 6 fixed sound and lighting systems, one of those on a moored barge in the centre of a bay, the other flown in by Chinook helicopter, for the relevant parts of the show.In the late 90s he composed hybrid orchestra + synthesizer Symphonic Fantasy entitled "The Tale of Genji" inspired by the eponymous old Japanese story. It was performed in concert by symphony orchestras in Tokyo, Los Angeles and London.CD version was released in 1999 followed by a studio version in 2000.All text is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License.Isao Tomita items become available.Isao Tomita RSS Register Isao Tomita in your lead woman singer (?Nakayama) and pop style female backing chorus.Part of a series including The Golden Age of TV Commercials, etc. This is like a suite version for concert and album release.Tomita's approval over quality and track selection. This album collects the original songs from the series in stereo.TV adventure series about a flying submarine.OUT OF PRINT Mighty Jack (vol.Atdargon and Latitude Zero) HalloweenVince reports seeing cheap low quality DVDs of this edit in England.I've seen a DVD set of this series.Ultraman, though the seemingly less related Unbalance is considered a direct ancestor of the Ultraman series because it was made by the same team.Tezuka anime series, slightly higher fidelity than the Jungle Emperor CD in the same series, 31 mono tracks, this was released in 1998 and Tomita's name is not clearly mentioned on the CD packaging (only in the fine print credits). This is a 1972 cover album of pop tunes played on the Moog by Tomita collaborating with EIICHI NARISAWA.England and I think the U.Quadrophonic playback gear hitting the market just then.Japanese music biz seems to have gotten into synths with quite a delay. It's funny to hear the Tomita sound with rock guitar and drums in spots. The War In Space (1977), which has some synth effects. This is a version consisting of two LP side length suites in stereo.Includes the original single version in stereo) Japan only. Its recently popular in Japan to make collectors soundtrack reissues with the original session tapes rather than the suite style arrangements most people are used to.CDs This film was released in the U.Very digital but also very synth filled. This score is predominantly electronics and is some sort of Mongolian historical adventure.Sentimental music and TV movie which spawned sequels, see below.Charming music though not synth oriented music. Some vocals and mostly synths and samples. The main theme certainly sounds of Tomita. This album is not on Tomita's official discography. There are some synth sounds and drum machine beats.Tomita supervised this recording and the famous Tomita logo is placed in the covers top right corner. So this is an album Tomita considers one of his integral releases. This one has English and an historic illustration on the cover. This is a limited edition live recording from late 1998.There were said to be only 1000 made, which may be correct. He himself had plans to and eventually did release an album version of studio quality.Fine rich music though definitely not a synth album. This version is not on Tomita's official discography.CD seems to have circulated a bit outside Japan.Out of print but not incredibly rare. This version is a studio recording with the London Philharmonic that Tomita made for album release.Tokyo Disney Sea Aquasphere Theme Music 02.Tomita's name is only in small print as the final thing mentioned on the obi but he is the composer of this mini album. The CD is in a regular clear case with no tray card and the picture disc serving as the back artwork. The night music seems to fade and thin out the arrangement so the presumed looped nature sounds far less obvious. There are some more dangerous sounding parts with the orchestra and percussion section making big sweeps for waves. There is a lot of stereo separation but no where else to that extreme. In general its extremely real acoustic sounding though some instruments, mainly becaue of filtering and reverb definitely can't be real. But usually his blend of many supporting melodies keeps things moving and any not complimentary fakeness from showing. Some others have prominent electronics but in general are orchestral and fairly short.Following the 20 themes are 6 longer tracks of music from what might be forestry?Academy Award nominated (Best Foreign Language Film) which won the Japanese Academy Award for best score.Hidden Sword, Demon's Claw 04.The CD includes a new midlength original orchestra piece, what seems to be all the contents of the Twilight Samaurai soundtrack EP and this new soundtrack.Unlinke Twilight Samaurai the new material seems to be all orchestral with no synths.Compilation, design, and layout of this web page is copyright 1999 Nicholas D.This web page is a product of fan appreciation and is not intended to infringe upon properties held by its rightful owners.BBSs UNMODIFIED, with all ownership and copyright information intact. On Bach, a 1968 album containing synthesized interpretations of the music of J.Dancing, is used as the theme of Stargazer, Jack Horkheimer's weekly astronomy show on PBS.
