American songwriter and musician best known for writing two songs that Eric Clapton made famous, "After Midnight" and "Cocaine", as well as the Lynyrd Skynyrd hit "Call Me The Breeze".Cale, Rocky Frisco tells the same version of the story mentioning the other John Cale but without further detail.Cale's personal style has often been described as "laid back", and is characterized by shuffle rhythms, simple chord changes, understated vocals, and clever, incisive lyrics.Live, however, as evidenced on his 2001 Live album and 2006 To Tulsa And Back film, he and his band regularly stretch the songs out and improvise heavily.Cale's influence on their music; several artists in addition to Clapton have made hits of Cale songs, and many more have covered them.His most covered songs include "Call Me the Breeze", "Sensitive Kind", "After Midnight", and "Cocaine".Cale is also well known for his longstanding aversion to stardom, extensive touring, and even continual recording.He has happily remained a relatively obscure cult artist for the last 35 years.Cale, have brought his understated discography and songwriting to a new audience."Girl in Summertime")

moe.Gold and Platinum status in a number of other countries around the world.In my humble opinion, he is one of the most important artists in the history of rock, quietly representing the greatest asset his country has ever had...Cale work, titled Rewind: Unreleased Recordings, is set for release October 2 in North America and October 8 worldwide.The album comprises fourteen songs recorded between 1973 and 1983 by Cale with longtime producer Audie Ashworth.Hardin, keyboardist Spooner Oldham and drummer Jim Keltner.The collection features eight Cale originals and a rare number of covers, including tunes by Eric Clapton, Leon Russell, Waylon Jennings and Randy Newman.It's like looking at old family photographs.Cale currently has no tour plans, but if that changes, any new dates will be posted on this site.In the wake of their collaborative hit CD, The Road To Escondido, Eric invited Cale on stage to perform five of his songs (including, of course, After Midnight and Cocaine and three songs off the new CD) with Eric's band during a special segment in the middle of Eric's set.For more on the San Diego event, see the links below.The project came about when, after joining Cale on stage for his set at Clapton's Crossroads festival, Clapton asked Cale to consider producing an upcoming album for him and the depth of the collaboration grew from there.In addition to veterans of Cale's touring band, guest musicians on the album include Taj Majal, John Mayer, Derek Trucks, Albert Lee, Doyle Bramhall II, Steve Jordan, Willie Weeks, Pino Palladino, Nathan East and Billy Preston to whom the project is dedicated along with Clapton's late friend Brian Roylance.For those of you that are new here, JJ Cale is

for past news.This page is dedicated to JJ Cale's earlier, harder to find and uncategorizable musical contributions.Cale 45 than anything I've originally wrote about here.Here's your chance to see what you think!Prior to this recording, JJ was playing with the Gene Crose band circa 1957.This audition record is one of few in existence today, as John (claimed to have) tried destroying all of his old audition records.Carl Radle gave Eric Clapton a copy of this specific single, and he cut it for his solo debut, Eric Clapton years later (1970).It instantly became a hit, and Cale reaped the royalties.This turn of events is what led JJ to record his first solo album, Naturally in 1972.I've heard) JJ Cale then toured on and off, alone at clubs, and with Delaney And Bonnie Bramlett through the late 1960's.I'm sure this will be verified on the Kick Film documentary filmed this past summer (2004).Jimmy Boyd on Dot 66166 (Imperial IM 6203).Leo Fiest inc (ASCAP)
