Sadat X (born Derek Murphy) is an American rapper, most famed as a member of Alternative hip hop group Brand Nubian.Black, and at times controversial, lyrical content.Clan, Public Enemy and Poor Righteous Teachers.One For All is now considered a classic hip hop album, and was awarded a 5 Mic rating from popular magazine The Source.Brand Nubian returned in 1993 with the album In God We Trust, which featured the hit single "Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down".Sadat received a bit of controversy following the song's release, due to alleged homophobic content.In 1996, Sadat released his first solo effort, Wild Cowboys.After the album, Brand Nubian broke up once again for solo endeavors.Sadat released an EP in 2000, titled The State of New York vs.Brand Nubian reunited once again in 2004, for the release of the album Fire in the Hole.The album was seen as a disappointment, and the group split again for solo albums.Qualified as a firefighter in New Rochelle, New York.Played point guard for the Howard University basketball team.Hood, 1991)

more...Escape From New York (Feat.Smoking On The Low (Feat.Smoking On The Low (feat.This year's head liner in at the show was Sadat X of Brand Nubian.They said they would try and told me to get there early.Sadat was doing a sound check and I ask one of my friends to talk to Sadat so I could do the interview.So I waited until after the sound check and saw Sadat reading a magazine.UAN and asked him if we could do the interview.This experience above all at the conference made me realize that I was lucky and truly blessed.Anyway, here is the Sadat X interview.UAN: What have you been up to lately?Some solo stuff, some Sadat X stuff.Sadat X: Well you know, we just came back from Europe two weeks ago.We went to England, Denmark, Finland, and Norway.Puba is working on some new stuff.Everything has his different cycle.Music is changing you know.You got groups like Dead Prez and Talib Kweli.They still promote the positive side of the music.Sadat X: On this solo project.My man Diamond, bring Diamond back out again.Allot of times with producers, what happens is a producer will be hot for the moment.At one point you know Pete Rock was the hot one.Sadat X is to get to know you?Sadat X: Actually I did a song with the Neptunes and Jay Z.You got to change with the times.Basically you got change with the times.Allot of dudes do the underground circuit.Live and the rest of them groups like that.Whatever money I get from this from time to time is good.The money is not the overriding issue with me.How did that come about?Sadat X: I would love to do something in the future with DJ Spinna and Krim.Because those is my people, like I said.Sadat X: For all the fans of hip hop.
