Jeevan sukh dukh ka sangam...The festival of Uthana Dwadashi was celebrated with traditional pomp and gaiety here on Tuesday.The highpoint of the festival was the Lakshadeepotsava on Car Street here.In the afternoon, kshirabdhi, a special ritual of pouring milk on the idol, took place at the mantapa in the middle of the Madhwa Sarovar on the Sri Krishna temple premises.Tradition has it that this is the day when the Lord who slept on "Shayani Ekadashi'' is woken up after four months of yogic sleep.Vishwapriya Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Admar Math and Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Kaniyur Math were present on the occasion.The utsava idols were taken towards the ratha or chariot at the entrance of the temple.The idols of Lord Krishna and Mukhyaprana were then kept in the Garuda Ratha, while those of Anantapadmanabha and Chandarmauleshwara were kept in the small chariot.These lights added special beauty to the festival.This is known as the Lakshadeepotsva.Later, Vasanta puja and other rituals were held at the Krishna Temple.The festival is celebrated for four days.The festival of Uthana Dwadashi was celebrated with traditional pomp and gaiety at the Sri Krishna Math here on Friday.In the afternoon, the "kshirabdhi", a special ritual of pouring milk on the idol of Lord Krishna took place at the "mantapa" in the middle of the Madhwa Sarovar in Sri Krishna temple.Tradition has it that this is the day, when the Lord, who slept for on the "Shayani Ekadashi" is woken up after four months of his yogic sleep.In the evening, the "Thepotsava" was celebrated.After the prayer and "navagraha dana", the idol was taken out of the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.Both the chariots went around Car Street.This is known as the "Lakshadeepotsva".Later, the "Vasanta puja" and other rituals were held at the Krishna Temple.Vidyasagara Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Krishnapur Math, Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math, Vidyavallabha Tirtha of Kaniyur Math, Vidyadheesha Tirtha of Palimar Math, Vishwaprasanna Tirtha, junior seer of Pejawar Math, were present on the occasion.
