Vox Sola biography, Vox Sola discography

Welcome to the Official Star Trek Website! When a strange, symbiotic alien creature boards Enterprise and captures several crew members, it's up to Hoshi to decipher the creature's complex language.Following an extremely awkward first contact meal with an alien race known as the Kreetassans, Archer struggles to learn what offended his strange guests, while Hoshi works frantically to decipher their incredibly complex language.Unsuccessful at communication, Archer and Hoshi watch helplessly as the indignant Kreetassans return to their ship and disengage.Kreetassan hull, then leap into the Enterprise airlock just as the doors seal shut. Before she has time to ponder this further, Hoshi notices strange frequency distortions coming from the com system. While they don't seem to be causing any problems, Hoshi informs Trip, who says he'll take a look at the problem in the morning. The four men are stunned to find Rostov and Kelly completely wrapped in the creature's tendrils. As they turn to go, the creature wraps its tentacles around Archer, Trip and the other security officer, and violently yanks them into darkness.Phlox analyzes the organism's severed tendril.EM radiation could potentially stun it.However, when the bio signs of the trapped crewmembers become erratic, Phlox orders Reed to desist and withdraw.Desperately awaiting rescue, Archer, Trip and Rostov try to maintain their composure while wrapped in the creature's slimy tentacles.Meanwhile, Hoshi is exhausting herself trying to decipher the organism's bizarre language.Because the language appears to be something like a "calculus equation," T'Pol offers to lend her background in mathematics to the proceedings.T'Pol doesn't believe she belongs onboard Enterprise.T'Pol responds that she actually has a very high regard for Hoshi's abilities ...Back on the bridge, Mayweather is hailed by the Kreetassan captain ...With the experimental forcefield in place, T'Pol, Hoshi, Phlox and Reed enter the cargo bay, and Hoshi attempts to communicate with the creature using the universal translator. They are amazed to find a much larger organism, one that stretches into the horizon.Hello, ' + userName + '!When a strange, symbiotic alien creature boards Enterprise and captures several crew members, it's up to Hoshi to decipher the creature's complex language.Kreetassan hull, then leap into the Enterprise airlock just as the doors seal shut. Before she has time to ponder this further, Hoshi notices strange frequency distortions coming from the com system. While they don't seem to be causing any problems, Hoshi informs Trip, who says he'll take a look at the problem in the morning.Reed, T'Pol, Hoshi and Mayweather meet and deduce that the organism must have come from the Kreetassan vessel.Phlox notes that the tendril appears to be capable of surviving independently, and that it possesses a sophisticated nervous system.Hoshi wants to try communicating with it, but T'Pol insists there isn't time, and suggests they neutralize the creature instead.Surreptitiously entering the cargo bay, Reed and his security team strategically position themselves, and then fire the EM radiation at the creature. The organism writhes in pain, emitting shrieks of agony. However, when the bio signs of the trapped crewmembers become erratic, Phlox orders Reed to desist and withdraw.Phlox says that the organism appears to be absorbing the crewmembers' nervous systems into its own.If they keep firing on the organism, they could end up killing their own people. As the creature bonds itself more permanently to the trapped crewmen, T'Pol has few options left and orders Hoshi to try communicating with the organism.Strangely, the trapped crewmen begin to know each other's thoughts, indicating how close the symbiotic creature is to integrating them all into one being.Meanwhile, Hoshi is exhausting herself trying to decipher the organism's bizarre language.T'Pol doesn't believe she belongs onboard Enterprise.T'Pol responds that she actually has a very high regard for Hoshi's abilities ...Shocked at this revelation, Hoshi suggests a new tactic for deciphering the language and the two women go back to working together, determined to crack the mysterious code.Meanwhile, Hoshi has finally made some progress on the translation. With the experimental forcefield in place, T'Pol, Hoshi, Phlox and Reed enter the cargo bay, and Hoshi attempts to communicate with the creature using the universal translator.Although she has some difficulty at first, Hoshi manages to get the message through, communicating to the creature that Enterprise will take it home. They are amazed to find a much larger organism, one that stretches into the horizon.STAR TREK and related marks are trademarks Porthos, no one else suspects the intruder until engineer Michael Rostov goes to Cargo Bay Two to restore power; the tentacled creature grabs him, then his colleague Kelly when she comes to look for him.The creature captures Archer and Tucker, but Reed manages to escape, slicing off a segment of tentacle in the process.Phlox concludes that the segment is both alive and sentient.T'Pol asks Sato to work on communicating with the creature and offers to help with the numerical patterns of the creature's emissions. As Reed attempts to devise an energy force field to keep the creature trapped in the cargo bay, Sato and T'Pol discover patterns that they believe may represent the creature's language. With Reed's force field in place, T'Pol and Sato enter the cargo bay to attempt to communicate.Though the creature initially tries to attack them, they are able to make contact and discover that it wants only to return home.It releases the unconscious crewmembers, allowing Phlox to revive them.Trek in years, even if we learn next to nothing about how its biological processes work nor why a piece of it hitched a ride on an alien vessel. It's not anthropomorphic, it's not interested in humanoids, it attacks apparently without provocation, yet it has no hostile intentions nor any real interest in anything on Enterprise. It's like a gloppy, stringy version of E.And it sounds like the thing that wanted to talk to the whales in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.Vulcan is sensitive enough to the nuances of human emotion to warn Tucker that Archer might not be in the mood for company, surely she can tell how her criticisms affect sensitive officers. If she seems less prepared than the others, it's because she's supposed to be; hopefully she'll grow out of her need for coddling.Visually this episode has some ups and downs. It's very dark, even for an episode set largely in a dim cargo bay.The ship seems bleaker than usual, perhaps because we don't get a break from it; bottle episodes on this series are going to require work to lighten things up since there's such uniformity of grayness everywhere. The initial shots of the creature attacking are wonderful; we don't actually see what the tentacles are doing to the bodies, which makes them spookier than any special effect. An aggressive limb twisting up a ladder and a severed limb flailing in a sickbay container don't look nearly as impressive.Archer's nose, things get a bit, um, stickier.Voyager, though I'm not sure how realistic it is given this crew's relative lack of experience).Porthos and Sato being the only Enterprise inhabitants attuned to strange sounds behind the bulkheads.Reed inventing an energy force field...Archer claims he's thinking about Regionals to remind them that as soon as you give up, the game is lost. The producers may be shooting for a young teen demographic, but they must think those young teens are idiots.Reed wants to test a piece of the creature to see how much stress it can tolerate, Phlox says not on my watch, gunner cites crew safety, Doc retorts that their mission is to understand new forms of life and in his sickbay at least that's how they're going to do things. But overall I'm glad to have met it.Now that she's got her confidence back, I'm hoping Sato will get a larger role, too.Discuss this reviews at Trek BBS!Add TrekToday RSS feed to your news
