a chorus. On the song 'Homage to Maria Sabina', for example, Luzmila sings with
the only instrument that approaches her vocal range: the kena or notched Andean
flute which begins by floating above her on the scale, but retreats into the
background later into the song as Luzmila soars past the kena's abilities. On another cut Luzmila imitates the sound of many Bolivian birds,
flowing seamlessly in 'Spirit of the Waterfall'.Francy and Edmond have added even more instruments to their individual repertoire
since I last saw them: the most noticeable being the arpa or Andean harp. The liner notes booklet is superb, with photos of the instruments used
and fine explanations of the origins of the tunes.Chaskinakuy is a good group whose musical skills keep growing: with A
FLOR DE TIERRA their popularity is sure to do the same.Snare drum, timbales and congas have been added to the
traditional Andean percussion and many Andean standards such as 'El Condor Pasa'
are present (this is a very nice rendition), as well as some original tunes.Instrumentals dominate, with only a few vocals sung and composed by
Cesar Villalobos.Mi Cambio' composed by

www.If you want your Andean music to feature beautiful, gentle acoustic
guitar music with Andean flutes and panpipes, not the rousing celebratory music
usually associated with these instruments, LA MAGIA
DE MI RAZA is for you.Wayanay Inka de Los Andes
4.Although based in San Antonio Texas, the members of Wayanay Inka
started out in Peru leaning to play traditional Andean instruments from their
grandfathers.Bach minuet, for instance, on their first cd THE
FLIGHT OF THE CONDOR, which is filled with such surprises.FLIGHT
OF THE CONDOR: here on Volume 2 the group has better learned to
use the recording studio to advantage.Everything is crisper and cleaner, and
all the instruments sound better, including the voice.FLIGHT
OF THE CONDOR, but far better.Using the studio as an instrument, Wayanay Inka continues to improve in
ENCHANTED FEELINGS.In this their third album the group composes every tune on the
recording, but the overall effect is of traditional music. Why is this cd called Volume 5
instead of Volume 4?Could it be that Volume 4 would include some cuts with Luis
Tovar, but not others? The high point of ANDEAN WORLD
is the cut 'Popuurri Latin', where several different styles of Latin American
music blend together.Andean groups are not expected to know how to play this
stuff, but Wayanay Inka pulls it off splendidly.TROPICAL MUSIC FROM SOUTH AMERICA.Hearing these
played by a violin interplaying with Andean panpipes is certainly a novelty, and
a very good one at that. The violinist in particular is an excellent musician familiar with many
styles of music.Bolivia that drifted down river to Brazil, where it morphed
into a famous dance style).Cut 5, 'Pampa Larimi', starts out sounding like an Andean tune with a
bit of swing, then settles into a galloping beat, making the listener think of a
horse and rider galloping across the pampas.Tinku keeps some Andean roots with pan pipe
intervals, but it's definitely a lively salsa beat which emerges from the pan
pipes and vocals.Bolivian, Chilean Argentinean Andes traditions. Here
are some classics of the genre, from 'Encuentros' to the lovely 'Vuelo de
Condores'.Tinku is Andean music at its best: well produced to be
haunting, and representative of the region's best tunes. And if you
liked NATIVE LATIN MUSIC, don't miss more of
the same fine instrumentation in INSTRUMENTAL ANDEAN
MUSIC, which features 'El Condor Pasa', 'Chaburazas', and other
standards of Andean flute and pan ala Peru, Bolivia and Chile.Andean
sound can transfer to the modern world, for better or worse depending on your
age bracket.Western Christmas
tunes from Latin America too, as the very lively Hugo Blanco standard 'El
Burnito Sabanero' demonstrates.Speaking of
traditional, Inca's playing of standards is more than displayed in three
predecessors to QUE SIGA LA FARRA.Hispanic and reflect Inca's
Peruvian Andes heritage. The Andean quena flute, the tarka flute, and
others blend with the charanga and Andean mandolin (developed by Andean natives
after the Spanish conquest) to provide lovely classic songs. If it's a
basic collection of Andean standards needed for a representative collection, you
couldn't' go wrong pairing DAZANTE
with VIENTOS DEL SUR: the classics
don't get much better than this.SEMBRANDO
TRIGO, his first solo album, means 'sowing wheat', and reflects the
end of the old millennium and connections to the earth.Jose Luis Reynolds and Mario Reynolds Sainz.Nine
different flutes are used in the course of SEMBRANDO
TRIGO, offering very different atmospheres between songs.Oscar Reynolds is that
kind of musician: pan pipes may be the standout solo instrument on RIVER
OF LIGHT, but like Transylvanian pan pipe players before him,
Oscar Reynolds reaches out for something different here: a sound somewhere
between jazz, pop, easy listening, new age and Andean.Except for Spanish flamenco guitarist
Chuscales, all the musicians are from Andean countries.Bolivian expatriates live in Buenos Aires.Despite
having two percussionists in the lineup, the music stays soft and subdued.RIVER OF
LIGHT should not be missed.Western interplays
that is MISA CRIOLLA.Juanito rhythms from Eucador and more.Caribbean with the traditional Andean sound. Most of DREAMSCAPE
was recorded in Santa Monica, but some of the guitar work was recorded in
Ecuador.Cello and bass guitar are also featured in DREAMSCAPE.Ecuador presents more traditional Andean music with a slight difference: a
fiddle enters to add more excitement.Konrad
Rhee's BLUE SEA DREAMS uses guest
percussionist Brent Lewis (of Australian fame) to blend Native American
influences from the USA with the sounds of both Andes and Caribbean beats to
create a truly world music feel. This
is all in the first cut: 'Mantra Mantra' opens with lovely acoustic guitar which
leads into haunting flutes with echoing embellishments.Move
to the haunting 'Deep' with guitar and flute entwining and you can see this is
the best of new age, blending world cultures and styles.Andean elements
to their Andean listening experience.Jorge Rosas's music is compelling, whether he's
adding electronic embellishments to a traditional Andean song or adding Andean
elements to European pan flutist Zamfir's classic 'Lonely Shepard' or Paul
Simon's 'Sounds of Silence'.Dynamic Drive DHTML code library (www.Search and connect with others using just your nickname.Exchange messages without sharing email ids or names.Nafella has created a private account for you. Please click on the link provided to personalize your account and become a member of the thoughtful community on Nafella. The author reserves the right to delete comments. Please click on the link provided to personalize your account and become a member of the thoughtful community on Nafella.Thank you for using Nafella. Please check your inbox for sign in details.Flamenco with Sara Baras: Sophisticated Innovation!"The content is protected by author of the article."Gerardo Tovar: siku, quena, antara, ocarina, percussion and voice. While we believe in free speech, the author and Nafella reserve the right to delete abusive, racist, homophobic and xenophobic comments and content.Help prevent automated programs from using Nafella services.Refresh image by clicking on reload icon.Hands on Healing in the ICU: A Caring T...Affordable 2009 Cars: Smart ForTwo Not t...The River Runs Through Us: Grol...IndigoRising: Ustad Rashid Khan and Ramp...Balancing Faith and Rationality: The Foc...Strengths and Weaknesses in Clinton, Ob...Barrack Obama Wins On Fundraising: But W...Whines of the Time: Modern Women and Rel...Moon Sign Horoscope Week of May 25th 200...Separate multiple ids each with a comma. Will Lindsay Lohan Spend Her 21st Birthd...Anorexic Nation: Fat the New Fear Factor...Spanish Celtic music by Jose Angel Hevia...
