Yellow Swans and Birchville Cat Motel biography, Yellow Swans and Birchville Cat Motel discography
GMS and New Zealand's Birchville Cat Motel aka Campbell Kneale. It's the real deal or bricks, brother. At times Kneale's guitar sounds like something really rusty and huge like a massive church bell or something being swung back and forth, and at other times like a brilliant purple gamma ray from outer space, and still yet like the feeling of melted white light sliding down your throat."Marble Carcass" is the other, shorter piece but at 21 minutes still isn't an easy pill to swallow.I've ever heard, maybe like a 21st century version even. They even ratchet up the noise quite a bit and get to a sound somewhere between several steel chains being stuck in a blender and a barfing robot.Safe to say this tune reminds me a lot more of the "psychic" side of the Swans than the first one, although I think I preferred "Terminal Saints" more if I had to pick. It's just so much more immediately...Cool disc on the whole, and it'd probably appeal to fans of both genres though I'd categorize the sound as being "Yellow Swans with a BCM influence" rather than the other way around. They sold it in advance through their mailing list but it should be on their site soon.Reviews are back to being posted on a pretty regular (daily) basis, at least for the moment. If you're the artist or label and don't want MP3 clips of your work on the site, send me an email and I'll gladly remove them. This site is optimized for viewing in Firefox.Buy it from Insound

s.They were the first noise band I dabbled with after I consumated my flirtation with Wolf Eyes. They revel more in crackle, throb and hiss than shock and awe.Yellow Swans decide to team up with other noise artists the results are certainly a mixed bag.The Cherry Point, Live at Camp Blood.Likewise there is little light in their outing with BCM.This is pure BCM in many ways.Perhaps the point is the tension. At times it is an extreme ugly chaotic mess but at least there is relief. It cannibalises itself in a self indulgent, aural orgy of bastardry. In the end the collaboration works but it never trumps their individual output. You can follow any responses to this entry through the RSS 2.You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.Entries (RSS) and Comments (RSS).Notes:Terminal Saints was recorded at Celebrate Psi Phenomenon, Lower Hut, New Zealand in 2005.Update Information: Click this button to correct information, submit new information or submit images. My Discogs
