THIS season more than any other. The players on that team have no idea who I am, but I will never forget how they made me feel during one of the most difficult periods of my life.Dallas, Texas to see the Red Wings play the Dallas Stars in games 3 and 4 of the Western Conference Finals.Austin) and they got the tickets.Americans so prominently identifying themselves with their state residence.I've ever heard a single person call them self a Virginian as long as I have been living in the Commonwealth.I'm not sure if being from Texas is really that much different from being from Oklahoma or anywhere in the Southwest. The overpass columns of many of the freeways around Dallas are decorated with giant stars that eerily resemble something you see in China or Moscow.Anything that is large is identified as "Texas Sized."Meal portions, used car lots, etc.Shit is a lot cheaper in Texas. My sister has a three bedroom house with a two car garage just outside of Dallas.Mexican lunch at a restaurant for six bucks. When my family and I showed up at American Airlines Arena for Game 3 wearing our Red Wings jerseys, we were stopped by the local sports radio person and asked to do an interview. The first question he asked us was if we were afraid to be walking around in our Red Wings jerseys.People stop and cheer for servicemen and women in uniform every chance they get.Servicemen in uniform received standing ovations from the entire arena during both hockey games. Not wounded servicemen, but servicemen who were simply at the game.We don't stop and cheer our policemen, firefighters, garbage men or any other civil servant in that manner, so why do it for servicemen? Many of them will tell you, they just want to be seen as normal. All in all, Texas was cool but very different. This strategy seems to work well enough; so long as you have a big enough bankroll to continuously double your bets during a cold streak. Most of us can't afford to employ this strategy.Humans are pattern seeking animals, and we tend to interpret things that resemble patterns to have greater significance than they really do.At the Blackjack table of life, I've been on a cold streak as of late.Even worse, there was a hand where I had 10, and the dealer was showing a six.I've been on cold streaks before and weathered them out, only to get even or a little ahead before another cold spell would bring me down and the process would start all over again. But something about the table seems different.I'm looking around and I don't see ANYONE winning. We are all looking at each other hoping the next shoe will be better. The dealer, who would normally be empathetic to players on a losing streak, doesn't seem to care much for my plight. He's not making eye contact with me or anyone else and I don't know why.Why is no one winning except the house? There have been a couple times where I have been down to my final hand, and I have managed to climb back into the game.I'm nowhere near my final hand at the blackjack table of life, but all this losing has got me down something awful and I don't see anybody at the table doing any better to give me hope that the winning cards will return. It's a cynicism born in skepticism, and skepticism is the healthiest attitude to have towards those in power wishing to sell policy and ideas (or toward anything else for that matter. The cynicism shows up after your skepticism has, on enough occasions, been shown in the end to have been valid. The experience of having a reliable bullshit detector leads one to presume ulterior motives and underhandedness.I'm a student of history and I've seen fear manipulated by government countless times.Saddam Hussein and Bin Laden were conspiring together.Because it is a horrible idea! There isn't a single economist who thinks this is a good idea! There is no way that two people as intelligent as Clinton and McCain could possibly believe that this is a good idea or one that could even muster any support in the legislative body. They are trying to help the American people."The surveillance camera may record nothing but innocence, until one day it spies a corrupt act and demonstrates its true purpose.Politicians should welcome healthy cynicism. In a bank, surveillance cameras are welcomed by everyone except bank robbers.Being elite is a good thing.President who is smarter than most people, and I want him to believe he is smarter so he has the confidence to put his intelligence to use.We had eight years of a C student who would have never been admitted to an Ivy League institution had he not been a legacy. It's up to the people to decide whether or not you really do.As Jon Stewart asked, "isn't elite supposed to be good?"This week, everyone wants to talk about Hillary having momentum and Obama being in trouble all because Clinton won Pennsylvania which we all knew was going to happen. But if two weeks from now, Obama wins North Carolina (which he most certainly will,) and Indiana (which is a dead heat,) everyone will be talking about, "Obama bouncing back."Access Hollywood, who rummage through celebrity garbage to create stories they deem news worthy.Conservatives are fond of the notion of a liberal bias in the media.Sunday andhow he couldn't wait to see the head wear of his fellow femaleparishioners.Historianshave uncovered many of the origins of Christian mythology butthe information has been largely suppressed or thrown together withthe massive amount of scientific discoveries and human social progresssubjected to Christianity's collective cognitive dissonance.Several other man gods were also directly plagiarized from the Egyptian Horus myth in the time before Jesus, but they too died with Horus leaving only the Jesus myth tospread by European imperialism. If you are a christian you mustlook in the mirror. You, like every other religious person are livingin a bubble of delusion. The sooner you pop that bubble, the sooneryou can truly begin to appreciate the wonders and awe of our naturaluniverse, and thus dictate the purpose of your own life, which foreach of us, is the only purpose that actually exists. We will hopefullysoon be rid of this growth stunting, thought sucking monster, as wellas the rest of the world's primitive and counterproductive dogmas. His sixteen point nationwide lead amongst Democratic primary voters over Hillary Clinton represents a phenomenal swing; but it is not those numbers that have me scratching my head. This is a serious margin in presidential politics and to me, doesn't make any sense.Iraqi "liberation" which ended up being the biggest foreign policy clusterfuck in the short history of our nation.Yet today we have what looks like the makings of a convincing victory by the most liberal member of the Senate (Obama,) over a republican in McCain who is often chastised by his own party for not being conservative enough. This can only mean one thing. But they aren't the ones that gave Bush the election. Both McCain and Obama are clearly equally competent and both run intellectual circles around our current commander in chief. This time around it really does seem to be about policy and ideas. The answer can only be that these people do not know what they want from their elected officials. They are ignorant to policy and its effects on the governed. The only reason why the center's fickle shift is merely annoying and not disturbing is that this time, I believe they are leaning towards the right guy.In five years, record deals will be a thing of the past.I'm "on' at all, but every day people tell me I am.Perhaps I'm "on" by association, but if you ask them, I think they would tell you to a man, that they don't consider themselves "on" either.I'm often asked if I have any advice for those wishing to get "on."So you walking around like a big shot place's you at a huge disadvantage.Otherwise, they would have heard of you already.By the same token, being loud and flamboyant will also deter people from putting you "on."Simply turning up the volume and acting wild and crazy is not a substitute for charisma. You should always maintain the desire to learn and grow, but there is no shame in not knowing something.Nothing says fraudulent like a person confidently spouting off inaccurate information. Most people telling you they are going to sign you, make you a star, or put you "on," are full of shit.If you believe what they tell you, and tell a bunch of people that it's true only to find out it's not, you're credibility goes into the shitter with all those with whom you talked to.Not to mention the fact that if someone else had a better offer, but then decided not to present it to you because they were made to believe by you that you were already "on"; you just shot yourself in the foot.I've seen delusional artists actually decide not to get jobs and sit in the house for 6 months waiting for a phone call.Often times, they weren't even told a lie. They have a cousin who knows someone at a label who is going to take their demo CD to him next week.Surely, once he hears it he will be blown away and will be offering us a six figure deal! It's only a formality at this point! If you haven't had an actual conversation with the person who wants to sign you, you are deluding yourself to think today is any different than any other day, and even if you do have a conversation with a label rep, it doesn't mean shit until it is in writing.Music is way too much work if that is all you are doing it for.You may have to work so hard just to maintain what you have, that you can't see where you actually are. They go to work every day and then get to come home and work on their own music till their heart is content.Meanwhile, I worry constantly about making enough money as I whore my talents out to as many people as possible and hope at the end of the day I have enough juice left to make a beat or write a song. There is something to be said for what I've gained in knowledge and experience and I do truly love my life, but I often wish I had enough money and prestige to do whatever I want and work whenever and with whomever I want.In reality, it would make me "retired."Team Demolition and was his first solo mic work since the mid 90s as MC of the Lower Life Forms.Top artists ranked by popularity.
