Zulu Tribe biography, Zulu Tribe discography
This is about the Zulu tribe.Location: KwaZulu Natal Province in South Africa. There have also been some figural sculpture questionably attributed to them.Zulu architecture is quite complex, and the dress or fashion of the Zulu has been carefully studied. They discovered the Mandawe Hill near Eshowe and built their new home there.Malandela could not enjoy his new home for long as he died shortly thereafter.Nozinja and her second born son, Zulu and faithful servant left.Qwabe, the first born was left behind to be the chief.AmaZulu (people of the Heaven). After Zulu came Punga, then Mageba, Ndaba and Jama.Senzangakhona fell in love with Nandi who was from the neighbouring tribe of the Elangeni who bore him an illegitimate son named Shaka Zulu in 1787.He led the Zulu to their greatness.Economy:Rural Zulu raise cattle and farm corn and vegetables for subsistence purposes. The women also are the owners of the family house and have considerable economic clout within the family. In the urban areas of South Africa, Zulu, and in fact all Africans, are limited to labor intensive work and domestic duties.Even as Apartheid as an institution is beginning to crumble, it is still extremely difficult for Africans to compete for jobs for which they have not been trained, and the country is still entrenched in de facto racism.Arts and crafts
Zulu people are very creative and this is seen in their artwork which is primarily beadwork, basketry and pottery.Bright colours were used and they were worked into wonderful geometric patterns.Beads not only decorate, they also convey messages, different colour beads mean different things.Baskets were also woven from different materials, they were made from dried grass, thin rushes or lengths of telephone wire.Traditional Dress
Men
Traditionally men wear and skins and feathers. What a person is wearing can tell you a lot about them e.The women look after the home and the fields.Zulu and African people did not receive good education, which limited them to labour intensive and domestic work, but with our new democracy, they are able to compete for jobs which previously they could not. This is about the Zulu tribe.Descendents of King Shaka who moulded the Zulu nation and Zulu people.Valley of the Zulu Kings.Valley of the Zulu Kings.Zulu Natal and formed tribes and clans.Senzangakhona, initially Shaka had every right to be King of the Zulu.King the Zulu nation became the mightiest military force in Southern Africa. What does the Zulu nation look like today?Negroid racial group in Africa.Xhosa, Thembu, Bomvana, Mpondo and Mpondomise.Swazis whom are originally from Swaziland lead by King Mswati.Taking a look at the customs and beliefs of the Zulu tribe. He was a ruthless yet fair king who taught his warriors new methods of fighting.Soon the Zulu's became a force to be reckoned with.Usually all three are woman.Men, woman and children all have a definite roll to play in the smooth running of the tribe. They must see to the cooking, washing, cleaning, children and the elder. It is their duty to bare children and if they don't they loose their status in the family. It is vitally important to bare a male child in order to carry on the family name. The Zulu's take care of their elder.Men are the providers and protectors. They construct homes, care for the livestock, hunt and fight. They were great warriors but now they protect their families from evil doers).Children respect their fathers to the point of fearing them and will never talk to the father unless spoken to.Zulu will take many wives.Boys and girls are shown the different roles as soon as possible. The ears of Zulu children are pierced at a young age so that both the ears of the mind can also hear.Circumcision is taken with pride and it is a mark of boys becoming men.Because of this a man must pay lobola for his future wife.Usually the price is in the form of cattle but in modern times has changed to currency. The couple may not marry until the Lobola has been paid in full. They use beads to convey messages and used by a girl courting a male. Each color of the bead has a meaning and a necklace or arm bracelet becomes a letter.Music and dancing is performed for all occasions like birth, death and marriage. They believe strong that the ancestors protect them, bring them good health and prosperity.Grave sites are highly respected and kept safe.To forget an ancestor means bringing misfortune to the family or tribe.LAUREN , May 4, 2008cool site !!!!!!!!!!!!!!This video will appear on your blog shortly. This video has been added to your favorites. The video has been added to your playlist. Please login to add to your playlists.Be the first to Post a Video Response.Change this to see only comments above a certain value.Change the value of a comment by clicking on a thumb. The version that i heard is that the Ndebele of Zimbabwe are actually Zulus who broke away from Shaka under Mzilikazi.Well you may be right maybe I missed that part of the History i read about it so long ago when i was in high school and I might just be mixing things up because it was so long ago but in any event thanks for the enlightenment ..Hey i just saw what you stated online on wikipedia so you most likely have the correct version :)..Do a google search for the exact phrase:"wild beast known as 'imbhuduma.Wikipedia links (the Wikipedia page has been edited to remove this), for an interesting story about Ndebele history. There is a lot that i didnt know i guess .Now I understand and its all making sense why Northen Ndebele and Southern Ndebele are so different ..Would you like to comment?Interesting explanation of all the components of traditional women's attire in the African Zulu Tribe.UPDATE: an astute reader added this:This is tribal dress clothing for Ndebele women not Zulu!Natal and 17th July 2004 at
